That said, there's a bunch of educational value in this calculator, and you may find it interesting what "cutting edge" was some years ago. Mine had a 256K memory card that was not flash, it requires a 3V lithium battery to keep the memory. I also purchased a calculus rom card, which extended more functionality and 3D graphing capabilities. This was my "Pocket PC" when I was in college.
I'm still using my 48GX with 128KB and 1MB cards as well as quite a few cards for hacking, surveying, hydraulics, and yes, the calculus card. I was one of the beta testers for the calculus card- you can find my name in the credits :)
Thanks for the skins- they are much better than the ones I was using and I prefer the 48G ROM rather than the 49G.
Sweet! Thanks for the QVGA skin... until I get a VGA PPC, that is, then I will thank you for the VGA skin. I'm tired of looking at my old 48gx skin. I still have my old HP, but might ebay it for Christmas spending money.

I must be mental or something, but where in the heck do you get a rom that's valid for the e48mb106 emulation software?
mine comes up with:
emu48 directory: \program files\emu48 - this is OK
Current KML script: engrpaul ral vga 48gx - this is OK
Click on OK and I get: error while opening include file keyboard Fatal error an line 464, press cancel to abort
click on the X, and I get the menu functions accross the bottom of the screen, but no calc?
It seems I need a rom ? I downloaded one through google, but the extention was .48G, so changed it to e48, but doesn't like that.
so in order to make it work I need a valid 48GX.e48 rom file?
Your error message is probably due to the "keyboard.kmi" file missing and possibly others (i.e., beep.48) - as the "e48mb106.zip" file is missing a few files (i.e., ROM, Keyboard & Beep to be more precise)
Download "emu-ppc48-49.zip" from this site http://www.hpcalc.org/details.php?id=5292 and copy all the files containing "48" in the same folder that you installed Emu48.exe (Program Files\Emu48) and when you run it, you will have an option to use "EngrPaul Real VGA 48GX" or the "PPCHorizontal48" which is not displayed as nicely as EngrPaul's version.
Many thks EngrPaul for sharing your great work with us :approve: :approve: :approve:
BTW, if you still haven't found the "ROM.48G" - you can download it from this site http://hpcfactor.com/forums/forums/t...id=613&posts=3 Click on "Emu48CE on ARM (untested)" and it will be one of the zipped files. Then simply copy it to your Emu48 folder and you should be all set. Hope this helps. cheers.
I'm having problems getting this to work. I have copied the contents of emu-ppc48-49.zip and EMU48CE_arm2k.zip to my X51v. I ran the cab file which created \EMU48CE. I then moved the files containing "48" to that directory inlcuding the rom.48g file. When I run EMU48CE it brings up a green screen and then crashes about 1-2 second later.
(1) Unzip and run the following file on your desktop, copy the CAB file to your PPC and double-click it to install the emulator to your PPC.: http://privat.swol.de/ChristophGiess...8/e48mb106.zip. This emulator program allows your PPC to run a calculator ROM. If you want it on a memory card use the freeware programs CABINSTL from SK Tools.
(2) Copy a KML/BMP pair to the PPC installed directory. I have provided several sets. This provides the emulator with an input screen and keyboard mapping.
(3) Download (and convert if necessary) the ROM.48G file you need. The file and instructions can be found by a google search of "ROM.48G". Place this file in your PPC install directory. This is the actual calculator ROM.
(4) After accomplishing these three things, run Emu48 on your PPC.
NOTE: There is two different series of emulators. If I'm getting this right, there's Emu48CE which has been around for a while and is now version 1.23f (?) and Emu48 which is a new engine based on the Windows emulator, and is at version 1.06. The Emu48 is the better of the two in my opinion. If you read the top paragraph of Christoph Giesselink's page you will understand better.

Getting the following error when trying to load the VGA skin:
Reading EngrPaul VGA Real 48GX.kml
Open block
Fatal Error at line 4
This KML Script doesn't specify the ROM to use, or the ROM could not be loaded.
Press Cancel to Abort.
