As LHR said, "Download "emu-ppc48-49.zip" from this site http://www.hpcalc.org/details.php?id=5292 and copy all the files containing "48" in the same folder that you installed Emu48.exe (Program Files\Emu48) and when you run it, you will have an option to use "EngrPaul Real VGA 48GX" or the "PPCHorizontal48" which is not displayed as nicely as EngrPaul's version."
Just copy "all" the files from this .zip file into your folder and everything will work... There is a file missing (keyboard.kmi and maybe beep.48) in your folder that is causing your current problem...
I just reinstalled Emu48 and have a new appreciation for how hard it is to get the program set up.
If you want to keep your files somewhere other than a My Documents folder (for instance, in the install folder) you will need something like MadProgrammer's File Dialog Changer to be able to browse to this directory.
When you get things set up, you should be able to automatically save your session on exit, and have the calculator where you left it when you start it up again. And there should be no prompts either, it goes right to the calculator without a startup dialog. But it takes a little bit of effort. :rolling:

After downloading a bunch of files from various places, I finally got emu48 to work with my X51v. In case anyone can't get it to work, here are the files in my \program files\emu48:
5) EngrPaul VGA Real 48GX.bmp
5) EngrPaul VGA Real 48GX.kml
6) HP48GXVGA.bmp
6) HP48GXVGA.KML
Lastly you need a set of KML and BMP files. I like the ones from http://www.hpcalc.org/details.php?id=6440 :)
OK I must be the only idiot here because I am completely dumb founded. I have downloaded all the files mentioned and run the .exe file which installs the program on my desktop. Put all the necesaary files in the directory. I get this nice little calculator icon. Double click and get a "packed rom image detected" error message.
My second question would be even if I get this to work on my desktop how does all this get installed on my x51v??? Am I missing something here?
My post on 10/1 are the instructions for the X51v, not for your desktop pc. Remember download E48MB111 from the #1 link. The zip file has the instructions for installing the app on your pda. The rest you have to copy over manually. Look for "Explore" in your activesync.
