How to Adjust & Verify the IR Port?

I have a Axim X50v, running 2003SE.

Trying out Vito Remote for TV Remote Control.

I went through the steps, and nothing happened.
So went to Design Mode, Reset cmd, then Checked Learn from IR source. Pressed on Read cmd 1, and waited. I keep getting the Can't get IR signal. Try Again!

So popped over to Settings, and seen the Receive all incoming signals checkbox is unchecked. Seems to unselect when I use Vito Remote.

Went back to Vito Remote, and tried the two other IR port settings, and even auto. Nothing.
I used PHM's Device Manager, says my IR Port is Com2.

I give up. I don't know if my IR Port is working, or if there's some setting(s) I need to change, or what to do to get this working.

I have a tendency to misplace my remote control a lot, and was hoping this program would work.

So how does one verify their IR Port is even working both ways if they don't have an IR Keyboard?

What does one do to set their IR Port up and get it functioning of the application doesn't seem to respond?

Dunno about the ViTO Remote & the x50v compatibiliy. it's not compatible with, for example, the iPAQ 36xx/37xx; therefore, it's possible it's not compatible with the Dell either.

There're several other remote controller titles (for example, Total Remote, PDAWin TV Remote Controller and RCII) that are reported to work flawlessly with the PDA. Please read http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?p=809730 on this.

Thanks! NoviiRemote 2.3 trial works GREAT!
Set it up in learning mode, it audibly lets you know the signal from the remote is received, and I programmed my TV and DVD remote controls.
I am able to control my TV while the Axim is in its cradle, or in mobile mode.

Looks like I will be buying this after Christmas!
