AvantGo-Storing channels on CF or SD

I've looked in the archives and I don't find an answer to this. If I look on AvantGo's site, they say it's only possible to store their channels to memory card if you have a Palm OS 5 device. Does anyone know of a way for us X50V users to have our AvantGo channels stored to memory card?
Thanks,
JTBerk2

welcome to aximsite! i installed avantgo when i first got my x50v into the default directory. i then uninstalled it and reinstalled it to the sd card. I also have memmaid have set it so that avantgo and PIE files are on the sd card. I don't know if it was the reinstall or memmaid that has made the difference, but the bulk of my avantgo files are, indeed, on the sd card.

I'm sorry, you lost me with "memmaid". I do not know what that is. Also, what are PIE files? And how do I do this?

I just want to Welcome you to this new PDA world.
First Memmaid is a Utility program for the Pocket PC. It something that you should look over and see if you want it. You can do a Google Search for it to read up on it. Personaly I think Tweaks2k2 is a lot better. You will see that both programs are mention on this site a lot.

Next PIE. Which is another name for Pocket Internet Explorer.
Normally PIE save it page info caches under windows in the PDA memory. This starts taken up a lot of memory. You will learn to avoid using PDA main memory as much as possible. Doing so by installing as much as possiable on your SD or CF card.

But getting back to your main question. Avantgo will work if you installed it to you SD or CF card. But I personally feel that there is a bug in the program when it writes the updated pages to it. I found that it will show to use as much as 30 megs of space. So to get around this I found that installing it into the Build in Storage area doesn't do that. But note it runs a lot slower.

Again I want to welcome you to the site and you will find that this is one of the best site for PDA info on the web. Most of us when we have a problem would rather come here and get the solution then to wait on hold and get no where with Dell tech support.

Clarification:
1-If you use the default Avantgo client that comes with the OS then you have to use an utility (e.g.Memmaid, Tweaks2k2) or a registry hack to move the Avango cache to wherever you want.

2-If you use the new client (support WM5 with the latest Beta) downloadable at Avantgo Website https://my.avantgo.com/register/choose_device.html
Then when you install it, select install to storage card (CF or SD) then the cache will go to your storage card. The latest Beta works well, try to select some RSS feeds..
