dragon naturally speaking

[FONT=Tahoma]I am very close to making the decision whether to try out a ppc for the first time. I cannot find any info on if users are having any success with using a Dell's voice recorder and uploading to their pc for Dragon to transribe. What is the max length of a voice message I can record on a handheld? Is there somebody out there using Dragon naturally speaking version 8 successfully with ther handheld in this regard? Thanks folks. :)

I use it on my laptop with great results....on the PPC you realy need to train it well and use it in noise free environments...using it in a car can be tricky....different speakers can make the transcribing a little wonky but it's not bad(I used it for note taking in class and it was close enough...all i had to do was upload the file and in no time at all I had "typed notes" from class. It's worth the money if you don't like to type or can't type well like me.

dndbob: As to your second question, voice recording software like resco audio recorder or mnote (freeware) can be configured to save to your storage card. Depending on the size of the card and your selected bit rate you can get a lot of recording time. I use resco and it reports how much record time is available based on current settings. Mnote prolly does too.

Also use Dragon NaturallySpeaking 8.0 on my laptop with great success. I'm a quadriplegic and typing is very strenuous. I have an axim x 51, how can I use the voice recording and have Dragon transcribed my voice recording into Notes? Thanks for any assistance!

Dragon Naturally speaking has a Pocket PC component that records and you can transfer the recorded files to your PC and convert them into text.

Whent he PPC records something you can open the file on your desktop...give it a few seconds and it will start transcribing it into Word or whatever text editor you're using.

When recording on the ppc, can you specify where to store the recording like the storage card or does it go to main memory?

thanks
