Question OK, I give up on Battery Pack & Journal Bar

I've used Journal Bar and Battery Pack Pro from Omegaone software for a long time, but I've had it with repeated reinstalls and tech support emails to try to keep them updating correctly.

I really use them for several things:

Weather feed for two different locations
Battery charge state indicator
Program launcher
News feed(s)

What would you all recommend I use to replace these two apps? I downloaded iLauncher trial and it's ok on #2 & 3 above, but what about weather forecasts and news feeds?

Thanks!

Pocket Weather (sbsh.net) is what I use for weather.
There is also a thread with a free program (also called PocketWeather).

Magic Button is a popular freeware that has battery level. http://freewareppc.com/utilities/magicbutton.shtml

There is also this http://freewareppc.com/utilities/batti.shtml

There was a thread about a free program launcher from the Today Screen. I don't remember the name, but I'll link to it if I find it again. Looked pretty good.

I had some problems with Journal bar. But, latest verstion of Battery Pack Pro v 2.11 seems to be working great. Less battery draining and better memory handling.

During the installation, I skip Power Button.

Here is a free launcher, working great on Win2003SE/X50v (it's not QUITE VGA, but works fine in VGA)

Your fix for all the above...

GSPocketMagic+ - program launcher (small footprint) + task manager
Batti - battery meter (very small)
MagicButton - task manager

In all the above, the memory you save is substantial over your other programs.

For RSS, I use PocketRSS.

Now running iLauncher, Pocket Weather (both sbsh) and magibutton. Replaced the RSS feed in Omegaone with PocketRSS and have a better, cheaper, and more reliable solution. Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!
