I don't really subscribe the argument that Microsoft S&T can't squeeze in trip routing and large geographic areas onto the PPC. Microsoft can do it, but they don't want to lose all the POI's (points of interest) I think it's more a matter of Microsoft not wanting to reneg on its promises to deliver users to their paying points-of-interest subscribers.
Navman's GPS software does just fine with entire states requiring about 100k or less. And they offer address to address routing to boot.
Besides, when in recorded post-DOS history has Microsoft ever delivered efficient fast compact software?
