Is there a backup utility that can backup all your settings/files to the SD card, so that I can do a hard reset and simply restore the settings with a click ?

Sprite backup... it can also be set to automatically backup while you sleep :)

Like a dummy, let my Ax's batteries go kaput while in NYC last week.

Upon arriving home, charged the Ax in cradle.

Sprite Backup restored everything, neatly and in just a few minutes! :)
