cLaunch 1203 & Transparency

When I use cLaunch on my X50v, the transparency is all messed up. It actually magnifies that area of the theme, making it look wierd next to the normal area.

Anyone run across this and have a solution?

Thanks,
Dobermann

There's no solution to this problem (I've played with all the possible today background image resolutions - see my roundup of Today launcher apps at http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?p=837330 ), except for using a (highly) homogenous background image OR using the PDA in native VGA mode.

Thanks for the link (and the links within the links, within the links, within the links I was lost in LinkLand there for a while, but I made it back safely ).

In your above referenced link, you say that,

"Problems:

- the app isn't ready for making the predefined system control panels (inside cplmain.cpl accessible, unlike SPP, iLauncher and BP). However, third-party CPL's can be used without problems."

I think this may have been fixed, as I was able to add all of the following with their respective command line parameters per my list here:

WLAN Utility \windows\ctlpnl.exe MyCpl.cpl,0
Bluetooth \windows\ctlpnl.exe BTConfigCE.cpl,0
Odyssey Client \windows\ctlpnl.exe MyCpl.cpl,1
Password \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,1
Owner Information \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,2
Power Properties \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,3
Memory Settings \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,4
Close Programs \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,4,2
About \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,5
Backlight \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,6
Screen Orientation \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,7
Input \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,8
Sounds & Notification \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,9
Remove Programs \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,10
Start Menu Pgms \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,11
Buttons \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,12
Today \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,13
Blank \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,14
Beam \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,15
Clock & Alarms \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,16
Network Adapters \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,17
Regional Settings \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,18

Blank \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,20
Blank \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,21
Manage Certificates \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,22

I got tired of playing around with the different settings and attempts, so there may be more than what I listed.

For me, I am still looking for a way to put my own icon and link in cLaunch for Power Off, Soft Reset and Hard Reset. I don't want to run BPP for just these three icons -- it's a waste of space and overhead. Do you happen to know the command lines for them? I'm still looking and trying, but I have not found them yet.

As to cLaunch and native VGA vs the QVGA mode, I just learned the other day that contrary to my thoughts, my X50v does not run in VGA, including the Today Screen. What a way to go. I've got to go do some reading now on forced VGA mode for the Today Screen.

Thanks for your help and all your great links.

Cheers,
Dobermann

Oh, and as a PS to your linked article on cLaunch, you say that it will appear fine when in true VGA mode via the registry hack. It will also work fine if you do the "claunch.dll.0409.MUI" trick.

CLaunch Transparency Help

Hi there, this is my first post to this site. There's a lot of great information here, including this thread.

I have an X50v with windows mobile 2003 second ed. I just downloaded the program CLaunch (great program) and am running into the same problem with my background being enlarged, as you guys mentioned above. I've also noticed that the quality of the icons in CLaunch are not the same as the other icons on my screen.

It sounds like you guys have found a fix for this problem? I've never tried to do a registry hack, and don't know what you mean when you say a "claunch.dll.0409.MUI" trick.

How hard would it be for someone without a lot of computer skills to get CLaunch to work without distorting the background and with higher quality icons? I'd really appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Also, is there any way to put an icon that links to the memory usage program that comes standard with windows mobile (under start-settings-system) on CLaunch? I can't seem to locate this file in the windows directory.

Thanks for your help,

TK

Either from Dobermann's post: Memory Settings \windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,4

or there is a zip file you can download that contains links (with icons) to all the control panel settings (however I cannot remember where I downloaded it from!).

Maybe I am missing something, but when I try the MUI trick the tabs and background are displaying correctly, but all my icons are pixel doubled (and chopped) and the menus within cLaunch are a real mess.

Read this link for the full scoop, but basically, you just add ".0409.MUI" to the end of the exe file name to force high rez. But do yourself the favor of reading the thread, as it is quite enlightening.

And welcome to Aximsite - one of the nicest forums out there!

Something else must be different/wierd with your setup. I just put it back with MUI, and besides being so tiny that my old eyes can barely read it without forcing me into glasses, everything is fine, including the menus and icons. If I remember correctly, for me, the registry hack made the menus slam up to the upper left hand corner using a fraction of the real estate. I do not have this problem with MUI.

I have the same problem. Please post if you figure this out.

Sorry to be slow on the uptake here. I changed the name of the dll file to add the .0409.MUI but now cLaunch doesn't show up as an item for the today screen. What am I missing?

You don't change the name of the dll file. You need to add a MUI file with the given name.

See this for instructions.

Thanks. I'll have to tackle that when it's not post happy-hour.
