it loads extremely fast and actually more sites are working than with PIE for me (could be javascript)
also the web looks so good with its small screen rendering... you still need very good eyes, but the sites actually looks like you remember it from the desktop
experienced a memory leak already... opera seemed to fill the ram until I had to reset the device...
Well, It can almost load runescape.com.....It goes through the world selection, but doesnt load the java...Wierd.

Have only used it for a few minutes, but so far I love it. Very fast and it's the only browser so far that will use Javascript correctly on briefing.com!!!
Do you need to have an account to get to parts of briefing.com that otherwise don't work in other browsers? I'd really like to test this site but don't have time to search for the problematic part/register myself.
How do I install it?
I copied the files to my Ax, tried clicking on them all, no go, error message about opening the file with the right program. The setup, xml file, opens in PIE.
I was looking for a cab file too. Is there a forum out there that I can read?
Thanks,
Craig

Reason: Forget it, I just realized that I had to transfer the ENTIRE file

The cab files are on the Opera website. You have to choose the file that corresponds to your operating system.
You can copy the cab file directly onto your axim, even onto a storage card. I use the free Cabinstl program to install cab files where I want to. However Opera will install just about every thing into main memory. But it should run fine. I've been using it on an x50v, wm2003se.
Now for those of you who have wanted to free up some memory. You can edit the opera.ini file as long as you remember to use the Utf-8 encoding when you save it. I moved all of the sub folders in the opera folder to an opera folder on my sd card. I left the individual files in the opera folder in Application data. So far it is working, although I am having a font issue on some dialogue boxes. There is also an input.ini file that may fix some of the scrolling issues. Haven't played with that one yet.
I have soft reset a couple of times, just to make sure nothing from the original install is in memory. still working.
Even with it's rough edges, Opera is working much better than netfront for me. looks like i'm out some bucks on that one, and out more $ when Opera gets past beta
but the surfin's great! :approve: :approve: :approve:

The page I use is In Play, which needs a platinum subscription, I believe. However, you can get a month free trial. On other browsers, the whole page loads in on a refresh, but on Opera, only new headlines load in dynamically, just like in real IE 6

What ROM version do you have? I'm running A03 and am experiencing a number of problems.
I'm using an x50v wm2003se, rom a05. I have installed most of the program on my SDCard. As I said there are some rough edges, but all in all, I'm liking it. Posting from it now.
I wonder if I am living in a bubble with all the negative feedback i am reading. I have been waiting for Opera to finaly make this release for a long time now. My favorite thing is native VGA support. Now I have not used NetFront, but my experiance with Opera is very good. It loads pages fast, I haven't had it crash yet, and it works just about as well as any regular Destop Browser for showing pages. Yes the options menue is limited, but I can live with it how it is. I say that this is a great new app and I cant wait to see what all they do with it to make it better. (perhaps flash support or Java?...)

This is a beta release. I use Opera on my desktop and have been eagerly awaiting this release. The feedback is just that, to help the development team get it right. It's not critical, just the facts, as the individual users see them. Even with problems, it is better than PIE and it lets me into sites that I can't get to with Netfront. (hotmail not withstanding). It's crashed on me; it seems to leave alot of files, as I consistently free up memory with memmaid, and yes I have to soft reset more often, but it's moving in the right direction. The program will be commercialware. It should look and feel like it. We've all been living in a bubble, and with this release, we see a way out that is almost within out reach. all in all still

Not on my X50v runing WM2003SE. Try emptying the cache before starting or after each use.

Thanks, rebooting helped to solve this, don't know what the problem was though. The browser is sure fast, it renders the right to left sites funny, but it is manageable. As usual wtih Opera, a few tweaks to ini and it's on the right way...
