These are the CAB files; that is, the installer itself. Just click them on the PDA.

In the meantime, I've started scrutinizing the WM5 version, which seems to be in an entirely different class, compared to the WM2003(SE) version, stability and compatibility-wise. I'm still doing tests with the help of my newly acquired Dell Axim x51v; the results, so far, are excellent. Will post the whole story and updates tomorrow to my review ( http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...3&p=457&more=1 ).

gmail in standard javascript mode with opera ?

Hello,
A friend of mine used the new opera to browse http://local.live.com (javascript based) on its x50v and I found it really great ...
However he was not able to start gmail in standard javascript mode (only the degraded html or mobile mode).
Do you know if it's possible to start gmail in standard javascript mode with opera ????
(the gmail standard javascript mode has some nice features like address auto-completion, etc ...)
Thanks !
Pierre

Menneisyys, I wonder... I've been reading your review and although I agree with you initial observatios on the missing features, I think that after a week of use I disagree with your "buggy , incompatible" statement, maybe we are using different versions but my version is very stable fast and woks without any problems whatsoever (2K3SE). Moreover, most of the real problems can be worked out through the .ini editing. There are a few problems like no true full screen or the absence of drag-screen feature, but I don't think that I miss those (although I do need them).

I agree with Jukov. After a week of playing around with Opera on my x51v, I have had no stabillity problems at all.

My biggest complaint so far is when downloading files like podcasts, it automatically puts it in main memory. I need to have the option to put large files on my SD card. Maybe there is a way but I can't find it.

Andy, you can configure the opera.ini file manually (using pocket Notepad for instance) located in "\Application Data\Opera"
find line:
"Download Directory=\My Documents" and change it to whatever location you need,

Tried it and generally like it a lot. I usually use NetFront for my browsing (the v3.3 beta at the moment) which I find does most of what I want, but there is no denying that Opera is looking very promising. I am particularly impressed by its speed rendering pages - even faster than the v3.3 of NetFront.

The only two things that really bug me are the keyboard not coming up automatically when entering a url and that once you set it as default browser (which I did by accident) there is no easy way to revert to pie as your default browser. I have had to resort to some pretty tedious registry hacking.

the opera wedsite has a detailed description of the registry hacks that. are needed. I'm responding from my PDA, So I can not post the link, but it is on one of the last pages of the main opera issues thread.
