You only need to import this Registry file. You will need to have a Regedit5-compliant registry editor; for example, that of Resco. (See http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/men...tryEditors.asp for more alternatives.)

Great, that is just the sort of thing I was after. Now I am happy to play around with Opera a bit more!

It's in \Application Data\Opera\

Yup, it doesn't store anything in the Registry.

Guys and gals, I've just published my review of Opera 8.5beta running on WM5 at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...3&p=478&more=1

It (that is, strictly the WM5 version – NOT the WM2003(SE) one!) just rocks. The two versions are indeed different – just give a try to the "problematic" URL's I've provided and/or browse the screenshots I've taken. (I've listed a several URL's in the new review where you can also check that the pre-WM5 version indeed likes to stall/freeze, unlike the WM5 one.)

Query - is the WM5 version basically the same as the WM-Zero3 one that was floating about the net almost a month ago? That one's rather nice and zippy in page-rendering, and being able to choose from 'fit to screen' or to make it look more like a desktop rendering's rather nice.

I've imported this registry file (on my WM2003 x50v), and it didn't work. Every time I try to open a stored .htm or .html file, I get dumped into a blank File Explorer window instead of the file opening in PIE. In Resco Explorer, the filetype of any .htm or .html file is listed as Unknown. Any ideas anyone??

P.S. - I also tried manually editing the registry with the changes listed on the Opera website. Those changes are listed in one of the postings on the message forum dealing with the Opera 8.5 beta for Windows Mobile.

My 45 trial period only lasted 10 days, browser was frozen and after soft reset now it says, you have 0 days left on your trial period!

There was a fix for something similar to this on the opera website in the forums. http://my.opera.com/community/forums....dml?id=120903 (Hope that's legal, if not I'm sure the mods will take care of it.)

Looks like our own Psionandy came up with an answer. Maybe this will help you.

I am liking it a lot. I have moved all over to the storage card by editing the ini file. This is nice. Still lots of problems with crashes but that will change I am sure. I have also noticed that it handles some java script better on sites that I care about. I have also noticed that it does url's do not work from my e-mail. I have tried to edit paths in the registry but no go so far. Any tips there would be appreciated.

I am afraid I do not know the answer to your problem although the registry import seemed to work for my x50v with WM5.

What I did want to say was that this behavour happens to me with JournalBar euerytime I set something other than PIE as my default browser. Very frustrating. It will open the page but first it will open a blank file explorer pqge.

I have downloaded the CAB file for Opera 8.5b several times now but everytime I try to install it on my x51v it just hangs with the spinning wheel thing (sorry I don't know what it's called) and I have to do a soft reset. Even after the reset my Axim behaves funny until I delete everything to do with Opera such as folders that it appears to have created.
Any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong and how I can get the install to work?

I think a hard reset is in order.
