OK, you can find the review (with a lot of screenshots and bug reports) at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/ind...3&p=457&more=1

In a few words: this version is much worse than I expected. It's not only pretty featureless but also VERY buggy.

That is, you can safely install it on a WM2003 Pocket PC. It's only Menu/Display/Landscape that won't work on these devices because it relies on the operating system's rotating the screen – the viewport, unlike in, say, uBook or Mobipocket Reader, is not rotated. Much as WM2003 devices are outdated by two generations, support for viewport-based rotation would have been welcome.
Weak! :realmad:

When will there be a browswer that will provide landscape for WM2003 users!

The rotation is fineo on my X50v with WM2003SE. But of course rotation is built into this OS. I haven't tried it with a data connection yet but the install went easily into Main Memory. One thing I notice is that the text looks really small almost like you are using oz-vga or something. Zoom to 200% fixes that but the test is still small.

Is there anything differnet feature-wise with this release compared to the hacked version of 8.5? Or is it just added compatibility for wm2003?

I resolved my font issue by cranking them up to 16 minimum. Let's see know... The onscreen keyboard doesn't give word suggestions when I'm using this beta, image icon links work ok but when I tried to go to page two of Today's Threads I had to use the dpad to highlight the number then hit the center action button.

Now who has some suggestions for Java Games? or other Java applets. I'll need the website spelled out if possible.

Has anyone tried Opera with VPN connection?

Seems like Opera keeps killing my VPN connection, but PIE works and everything else okay.

True story

I just get to the "cons" section of Menneisyys review and Opera crashes on me. I had to soft-reset.

The persistant and non-removable address bar and scroll bar even when in "Full Screen" mode are annoying. Also I noticed when I load a new page the browser jumps to a few inches down the page so I have to scroll pack up to see the very top of the page, the page/website's name, stuff like that. That is also annoying.

Additionally, I've found that whenever you go to an input field, say, the address bar to put in a url, the softkeyboard NEVER comes up. You have to manually pull it up to enter any and all test from what I have seen. Does anyone else have this problem?

I will report back any other bugs/problems and/or successes as I further investigate. ;)

UPDATE: I have to admit one thing that this browser has going for it: SPEED! It is the FASTEST Pocket PC browser I have ever seen. :approve:
