Trend Micro Mobile Security

Anyone running Trend Micro's Mobile Security on a Dell AXIM?

I run their PC-cillin Internet Security on my desktop, so it seemed I logical conclusion to run their companion product on my AXIM X5.

Wrong!

I've spent the last 3 days emailing back and forth about me providing my IMEI so that they can generate an Activation Code. IMEI's are the province of SmartPhones and GSM, and I've explained 10 ways to Sunday, in multiple responses that I have a Dell PocketPC, and that's there's no IMEI to be had, nor a cell phone carrier to be provided to them.

They keep coming back with how I should enter #06# on my phone to find my IMEI.

I've reached my "bugger-it" threshold with them, and they're going to refund my money. I should probably leave it alone, but Trend Micro's Website says they support the Dell AXIM and the software installs and runs correctly. However, with the Activation Code it will only run for 30 days.

Can anyone help?

I've found that if the technical support can't figure out something this simple... I have absolutely no desire to find out what happens when I have a bigger problem. :exc:

In other words: Move on. Find a different product, or in the case of PPC anti-virus/firewall software... right now it just isn't all that important. Granted in the future it may be, but right now the cost doesn't match up to the vulnerability.

Oh man do I feel your pain. I am going through the same thing right now and came here for help. I purchased right menu. I love it so I bought it to stop the nag screen. In order to activate it you have to find your machine code which is supposed to be in the about menu. Sorry! Nope! Not happening. there is no number there.

Try getting any answer from the developer. And I was trying to be a nice guy by going through him and not handango (that's not how I usually say it substitute a d for the first h and add a m after the first a).

He finally write back after I review the software negatively on his own forum. send me the Imei he says. OK so what the heck is an IMEI. I go to google. It's a number on a smart phone. I don't have a smart phone, but this thing is supposed to work on my axim and it does just fine. this new way of activating probably has to do with the fact that google turned up a boat load of hits for cracks for an earlier version of the thing. Just checking. My conscience and my mac won't let me go there. I write again and again and go to a few more forums. I even try a number under the battery on my pda. well it's the wrong number and freezes me out of the form to get the serial number so I can't try any more of the 4,593 numbers on this thing.

Finally after I email again and suggest that I am certainly not adverse to reviewing this software on whatever online store I can find truthfully telling that it is great but buying it is futile because you can't activate it, he writes back. They have un locked the form for me and I just need to ( hold on to your socks) send him my IMEI number.

It's been almost a month now and I know I should quit. I didn't set up all my preferences after I did my last hard reset, but I'm like one of those people on Ebay. Don't out bid my in the last 5 minutes, because Now I want it and you can't tell me I can't have it. I also don't like getting cheated. I buy my share ware, I donate for freeware and I think developers should be thanked for giving us all this hard work, so don't mess with me, you know!

Aren't you all glad you aren't married to me. !! lol
