Indeed there is.

Check out PocketTop

It's a driver that should allow you to rotate in any direction. I can't say I've used it, but it is free, so give it a shot. I am sure a search in the boards would bring up some people's experience with it.

Check out THIS thread. There are several programs listed here, and also a free (but less feature) solution that allow you to work in Landscape mode.

In reference to the PocketTop drivers mentioned by cmcFilms, They are what I personally use. You have to soft-reset every time you change the screen orientation, but other than that they work just fine. I use them on very few applications, but have never had any problems with these drivers.

I ordered my Axim from Dell last Monday (7/12) and it arrived two days later on Wednesday (7/14). Boy was I surprised.
I use Excel and Word a lot at work, so I tried the Excel on the Axim. The first thing I thought was, "Man I wish I could rotate the screen". I did some searches and read some reviews. I found the following site - http://www.nyditot.com. Their software rotates the screen and can also change fonts and colors.
I emailed their tech support with questions about their software and a tech named Mark responded (quickly). He mentioned that they had an Axim CAB on their support page and told me how to copy it over into the Axim 'My Documents' folder and then to double tap it.
I got home from work a few minutes ago and did as instructed.
Sure enough their software works. It's relatively simple to use.
It has a 7 day trial period, so I'm going to try it for a couple of days. If it has no bugs I'll buy it.
I hope this helps.

This is an OS limitation.

this is the most ellaborate of the screen rotators, with rotate, virtual resolution (pan and scan or zoom) you can actually pan, scan, zoom,. and rotate all without reset, but to change the available resolution, you need to reset.
