Why not try Dogfood's Registry Tweaks & CPU/Battery Monitor? It's a nice little program that can put bars at the top and bottom of your screen to show CPU speed, usage, memory usage and also has some handy registry tweaks built in.

Really nice free app. Why not try it? :)
