I'm running a trial of Spb atm,
I like the userfriendlyness more tha Sprite,
The soft-reset thing for one.
I also figer out if i create full backup say on monday.
enter some data on Tue and Wed, and screw up Wed evening i can create a backup of only the PIM data and restore the backup from Monday first followed by the one from Wed (PIM only) and it would give me a simular effect.
I'm tempted to go buy Spb Backup, If i still feel like this on Wednesday i'll buy it.
I like having options and mitigating risk (especially since I take risks ala beta software and the like), so I run two backup programs: Sprite Backup and Spb Backup. I used to run two separate backup programs on my Palm PDAs, too, for the same reasons.

It should have asked you at installation if you were installing a trial or registered version and you should have chosen trial. If you did not see that or did not choose that you might reinstall.
The setup defaulted to the trial version and I did not change it. After the installation was complete the application would not go beyond the registration screen. I am at a loss at this point.

Odd, it made me choose trial. You might try reinstalling and if that does not change anything, deinstalling, soft reset, reinstall.

harleyxlc,
Sprite doesn't do a soft reset before backing up. It just stops all processes like SPB.
mkss
I should have mentioned, I am running the latest version of Sprite with WM5. It does do a soft reset prior to starting the back up. Of course, if you are not using a password, then this is not an issue. :)
Hmm, are you suggesting setting an alarm close to the time of the scheduled backup to really wake up the pda? Interesting...
Yes. I set an alarm for just after when the Spb Backup should have started and that seemed to nudge it past the delay (presumably due to my having a password set on my PDA) and it took the backup then. You might try it and see if that is a consistent effect or it it only works for me.

question: How to do back up stuffs on your SD/CF card along with stuffs on your main memory (PDA) with SBP backup v1.0 ? It seems to be that spb only allows you to back up stuffs off the PDA and not off the external memories. (Sprite lets you back up both PDA and ext. memories).
question #2: How do you DISABLE the password thing on Sprite WM 5 before backing up? With SPB, you can choose to put a password or not...with Sprite, it seems like you HAVE to put a password or it won't proceed any further.

I backup the SD and CF cards (which include the backups done by Sprite and Spb Backup) to my PC via USB card readers. See the link in my View MyPDA on Backups for the entire strategy.

The only password I am aware in Spb Backup is related to encrypting the backup data. As I'm running WM2K3.2 rather than WM5 I don't run the latest Sprite product.
