Yeah, I know. This topic has been discussed before, but I haven't been able to answer my specific question. I have read every thread on here that references either eWallet or Flex Wallet and still can't find what I'm looking for. Everyone says that either one or the other is better and it's a matter of personal preference. I don't want to download and try both so this is where I'm looking for answers, and I would like more than just "eWallet is awesome!" and "I love Flex Wallet!"
Anyone out there that has used both applications care to post a comparison of the two? I would like to know the basics. What does one do that the other doesn't? Which one is more user-friendly? What are the upsides and downsides of each application? Any response would be GREATLY appreciated!
I am ready to buy one of these programs tonight, but I want to be sure that I get the best one! Thanks for your help!

Just kidding. I have used both. Ask what you would like to know. I have used both for some simplistic password management stuff (separate applications for work vs. personal stuff), so I can't give a you good indepth review, but I can help if you have specific questions.
In terms of my experience, I prefer flexwallet. Both are simple to use, both allow cusomization, etc etc etc .... my preference for Flexwallet stems 100% from the fact that there is a support forum www.webis.net, and Alex (and crew) are excellent. In my opinion customer support is not a send us an email and we will get back to you sometime... it having the ability to provide that support, and providing a place where the users can help each other out.
Anyway, my preference for flexwallet is because of the people that make it. I'm sure the folks at Iliumsoft are excellent - but I have not had contact with them, and the do not provide a user forum which to me is important.
I'll update this in a bit .... I'm going to see if I can find anything really obvious that would turn the tables.
UPDATE 2 - Looks like you can insert image files and sound files into cards in eWallet. This appears to not be an option in Flexwallet.
However I will be making this a feature request for the next version of Flexwallet :approve:
UPDATE 3 - Flexwallet uses - redundant 128-bit algorithms for encryption, eWallet uses 256bit RC4 encryption. Not really a big deal, since both would be a giant pain in the you know what to crack.

LadyTonia, if this helps, I made a quickstart guide for a new user to flex wallet. It shows how easy it is to use. I can email it to you. I have used both and they are extremely similar, but I chose flexwallet b/c I bought it during the holidays for about $6 and now webis owns it, and they have excellent support. Sorry I don't have a direct comparison.
It's hard to truly distinguish them. But flexwallet makes it very easy to make custom cards. Both use tree style arrangements like windows explorer. Both encrypt info. Every thread that I've seen doesn't provide much insight.
Netsyd is right, the forum and support at webis are great.

Email it to me too please :)
EDIT --- Got the file. Thanks! Seems good, very nice step by step for the basics. Would have liked the same thing for creating cards on the axim (since that's where I really use it the most), but for the 100% beginner it was really good :approve:

Stevenator, please send me that quickstart guide. That sounds great!
Basically, what I want to do is keep up with all my screennames and passwords for various websites and email addresses; enter all my credit cards with the number, pin number, customer service number, and the credit limit; bank account information; mortgage and loan information; information about my medical and other insurances; and just other miscellaneous that I want access to but don't want to just be in a word or excel document on the pda. Thank you guys for all of your responses!

See my post above... Comparing what you wanted to do with both pieces of software - here's how it works out.
websites ----- Flexwallet & eWallet have prebuilt cards
credit cards ----- Flexwallet & eWallet have prebuilt cards
bank account ----- Flexwallet & eWallet have prebuilt cards
mortgage ----- Flexwallet & eWallet use a custom card
loan information ----- Flexwallet & eWallet have prebuilt cards
insurances ----- Flexwallet & eWallet have prebuilt cards
miscellaneous ----- Flexwallet & eWallet use a custom card
However it seems as though you don't "need" the sounds & pictures that eWallet offers. Flexwallet would be a good fit for what you "need". :approve:

THANK YOU! That was EXACTLY what I was looking for. Now I'm searching for a discount code. I found one for eWallet but not for FlexWallet. Go figure. I'll still search around a little more. The discount code thing may make up my mind because money talks!

Okay, I can't find a discount code for FlexWallet. I can get eWallet Pro for 25% off of $29.95, or approx. $22. For $3 more, is it worth it to get eWallet Pro over FlexWallet? They seem virtually similar except eWallet Pro comes with the desktop application and will have sounds and pictures, which I would probably use since they are there. Anyway, I can't do anything until I get home tonight anyway and I'm spending way too much time doing this when I should be working! Thanks again, guys, for your advice!

At the bottom of the page here - http://www.pocketinformant.com/produ...ab_id=purchase - if you own a webis product you just put in the email address you registered that product with and hit query. It will then give you a link to buy it for $14.90.

Two other considrations when I was making the same decision:
ewallet will sync at the card level. Flexwallet only syncs at the file level (this was the tie breaker for me).
Flexwallet has a random password generator. Ewallet does not.
I bought both because of the coupons at the time, but ended up using ewallet.
I'm leaning toward eWallet because of the coupon. I don't own any other WebIS products so I can't get the discount netsyd is talking about. Bummer. I have searched both this site and several others for discounts on FlexWallet and haven't found any, but I'm now leaning toward eWallet because of the syncing thing and because of being able to add sound and pictures. Not sure what I would use that for, but I generally like having extra bells and whistles. I'll find a way to use it!
This site is incredible! I probably would have sent my Ax back after a week if it wasn't for all the people on here. Aximsite rules!
