I keep checking the SoftMaker site in vain hoping to find the 2006 version. I use TextMaker every day. It is very good. I would also like to have the outline work better.
Does anyone know of a good outline program? It doesn't have to be anything special. Actually the simpler the better it will be for me. Just the regular stuff like bold, italic, underline...
I just like making notes in heirarchy and word processors like pocket word and textmaker doesn't seem to be able to do this.
What is also important for me is that you can set the heirarchy by pressing the TAB button or shift+TAB.
If anyone knows of a software that can do this please inform me. If it's freeware then all the better. If it's commercial...oh well...I won't mind too much. =)
Thanks!
Vill - take a look at Streamliner by Kopsis http://kopsisengineering.com/streamliner/. I have used it for a while, and it might be what you're looking for. There's a free trial, and only $9.95 to purchase.
However, I just checked out textmaker 2006. I didn't even know that an updated version is available. One of the new features are, "Hierarchical lists with bullets or numbering (can be indented/unindented easily)". I guess I'll download this new version and see if it fits the bill. =)
I tried steamliner but it doesn't transfer to rtf good. After taking the notes, I print it out so I need for it to be able to keep its heirarchal format when opening it with word.
I just tried ListPro and Trenotes. Both of which I uninstalled immediately. I don't like how you have to go to another window to enter a heading and then the notes of that heading. I want to be able to write my notes immediately and without headings on the outline. I want to be able to do this with as little use of my stylus as possible if none at all since I use a keyboard.
What I use with my Palm is ThoughtManager by Hands High Software. Unfortunately, they don't make their software for PPCs.
I've used PocketThinker for the past few days. So far, it has been the only one that fits my needs. However, there are a few quirks to it. One major thing is that it makes it too easy to delete a entry. All it takes is on button click. Accidentally press it and that's it. It doesn't verify before deleting at all. Another thing that I would like it to have is different shades or colors on each line in the outline but I can live without that.
Wow! Would love to find a reliable single pane outliner that has word wrap. Used the DOS program Grandview for years... it was my portable filing cabinet. With alot of effort, managed to export most of files to .rtf format. Currently use Streamliner.... no desktop component, interface isn't reliable, and doesn't seem to be actively supported tho.

Sadly, the same goes for ShadowPlan, which is another excellent PalmOS outliner. Perhaps someone can convince Skeezix to port it? In the meantime, it is compatible with and he recommends StyleTap in conjuction with ShadowPlan.
Wow. I totally forgot about style tap. I'll see what I can do with that. Alas...now i'll probably have to buy 2 programs just to get my PPC to do what my Palm did so efficiently...
I really need a very simple outliner.
No preformat, no database structure, just an appearance like a simple text editor with 'cut and paste'.
I want to reuse present txt/word files (stored in my Axim) which should be imported to the outliner and each line should constitute a 'headline' OR the imported file should be a note attached to a 'headline'.
The program shall be able to promote/demote each 'headline' (and associated note) by very simple means.
I wouldn't mind if a show/noshow checkbox could be associated to each 'headline', but that's not a demand.
