Hi, in the past I always was tired of AvantGo(Away), so i have looked for an alternative to read news en route. I tried many apps and tools but almost none of them had the features and contents i wished but one, RSS. There a several RSS Reader available to PPC, but i was disappointed, because the rss feeds often contain no text and if they do, only a few sentences. Well so I thought why the heck you dont make them yourself and so i did.
Now i can present you my RSS-ReGenerator in version 0.7.5 for Windows 2k/XP/2003/Vista. This tool is capable of generating new RSS feeds with FULL newstext using external script files written in pascal.
This is what the tool is actually doing (in shortform):
- Downloading of the entered RSS feeds
- Navigating the news links present in the rss feed
- Extraction of pure newstext with help of an script
- Generation of a new rss feed with full newstext
- Uploading the rss feed to an ftp server.
Comparison to AvantGo
Advantages: (may vary, depends on the rss reader)
- fast synchronisation
- faster viewing of the news
- news selection without pen
- no advertisment
- capable of aggregation non rss sites
- small RSS files for syncing via GSM/GPRS
- external editable extraction-scripts
Disadvantages:
- the RSS-ReGenerator always has to run to keep the rss feeds up2date.
- for every newsite an own script is needed
- A 100% extraction of the pure newstext is not always possible
- If the site changes his design the script will not work anymore or with failures

I have commented the script files to make it easier for you to understand whats going on and to create more scripts for your own. I also translated the Readme, i hope its understandable, my english is not the best.

Extract the scripts into the "channels" directory, start "Settings.exe", enter FTP data, enable FTP Upload and set settings as you like, then start "RSS ReGenerator.exe" and click on "Start".
