Best registry cleaner?
I've installed and uninstalled a bunch of programs recently, and it occurred to me I should probably clean out my registry, especially since I've encountered some minor weirdness since.
What is the best app - free or not - for cleaning out a ppc registry?

Pocket Mechanic is the one I use, plus it has quite a few other tools.

SKTools and MemMaid are the two apps that I recommend.
I also recommend http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=94657 on this subject.

Cleaning up a pocket pc's registry usually adds new backup
you just have to hard reset and load all your data again whenever it gets too bad
that means no restore utilities!

I've used both Memmaid and Pocket Mechanic. I have stuck with memmaid, mainly because I bought that first. I like PM registry editor becuase it tells you what it is going to to delete and you have an opportunity to say yay or nay. However, I noticed that it was quite aggressive and it would be easy to say yay to something that you really do need down the line.
As an all round, simple and can't get you into too much trouble, I'd recommend memmaid. It hasn't been updated in a while, but a glance at their support area here will show that they are thinking about it.

Dear Sir,
MemMaid has an advanced cleaner mode where it shows you in details what it's going to delete before doing it.
To switch to the advanced mode, tap on the "Quick Cleaner" title and select "Advanced Cleaner"

Thank you for your response.
Yes, I use the advanced cleaner mode all the time, but it does not tell me which registry keys it is deleting or which files it has found. It would be especially helpful, if you could see which files that it has found, that it can't get rid of because they are in use. But memmaid is still my utility of choice, and your presence here is part of that. :approve: :approve:

Dear Sir,
The details are there,
Go to the advanced cleaner mode, select the categories you want, then do a scan.
Now, if you expand any cleaner item, it will show you in details each entry and each file it found. if you select any of the entries you'll be provided with even more information about the file in the information window.
