IT manager software

I am an IT manager and just got my x51v.

I am looking for ways to use my ppc to help me in my job.

So far I have found LogMeIn to be very helpfull and I use Excel to save site specific info.

But as smart user I an turning to the Axim forum for ideas about programs and tips on what and how the ppc can help me.

Thanks for any help.

I work as an IT consultant to small / medium businesses, so am the IT Manager and IT staff rolled into one for clients. The Axim is a HUGE tool for me. Things that I find useful, that hopefully may be of some help to you:

-- eWallet - for keeping any site-specific info that you feel happier about having encrypted / password-protected

-- Pocket Informant - for tracking tasks and contacts

-- PhatNotes - for note-taking

-- XS Forms - for creating database forms for things like asset tracking and such - their is one of their pre-designed forms just called 'IT' which is a pretty handy tabbed form for collecting username, hardware info, OS version, network info etc

-- WiFiFoFum - if you ever need to keep tabs on wireless access points

-- TimeTracker MX - for time & billing tracking

-- The in-built Terminal Services client

-- If you really want to get slick about remote management of servers and use a dedicated, secure app for that, tailored for PDAs, check out MobileAdmin - I did a mini-review of it at:
http://www.smartmobileassets.com/cgi...s,m=1137487575

Guess it all depends on what you're up to in your role, but hopefully some of that may be of use.

Don't forget something like ListPro.

Along with the above mentioned software, I use FlexWallet and eWallet (depending on the company), Phatpad for meetings, Listpro for documenting steps I've taken during an upgrade, or need to take, checklists for patches I've completed, etc etc.

Also, I use the built-in Terminal Services client for RDP over VPN to various servers.

But PatrickJ, that app you just showed looks interesting. I'll check it out later on (heading out to dinner right now...)

Oh, and don't forget the most vital app there is --- Outlook Mobile paired with Exchange!

Yup, Outlook and Exchange SP2 are very cool now, just waiting for the MSFP now.

ListPro for steps taken during an upgrade = cool idea - I've used PhatNotes but may take another look at ListPro now, it's been a long while since I tried it.

And Mobile Admin is very slick, well designed, pretty quick and very handy - but pricy - I played with it for the eval period and have not yet had a client that will justify the cost of it - but definitely worth knowing about I think.

I'm a (now retired) SW QA Manager dealing with moderate to very large projects.

It's a little bit too late now but I think my job would have been much easier with my present knowledge of Getting Things Done (David Allen - GDT) and ListPro.
...not forgetting MS Planner and my very first Palm
:-)

sorry to get off topic for a moment, but can anyone give a quick rundown on the differences between ListPro and HandyShopper?

Thanks,
