I just set up categories for many contacts on the desktop in Outlook. Some contacts have more than one category. When I checked my Axim only some of the categories transferred. I then tediously went through the contacts individually and added the correct categories in PI itself. Minutes later many of the contacts that I entered the categories were missing them!
I'm going to bump this just once. Is anyone having a problem with categories? Can anyone tell me how categories work b/t Outlook and PI? I can't find any info.
Thanks!
I haven't had PI drop my categories, but it has crashed twice since January, and lost all my category assignments to the tasks I have listed. It also lost all my category settings (colors, display settings, etc.) for my task display.

Thanks to PocketBrain for bringing the parrot to life!! :)
Let me clarify the problem. The categories transfered initially, but recently I went to Missouri for work and made a new category, Mo Trip, and added it to 21 contacts in Outlook. This category transferred to PI. But it didn't transfer to the contacts so I added it to each contact. Each of these 21 contacts also have 2 to 6 other categories.
After my trip I entered notes for each contact in Outlook. After the first contact I pressed save, as I did so I noticed on my Axim the contact disappeared from the screen - I had the filter set to show Mo Trip contacts. After I added notes for the 2nd contact in Outlook and pressed save the 2nd one also disappeared from PI. Yet both were still part of the Mo Trip category in Outlook. This continued for all the contacts.
Now all my categories are like this. I don't know what I did to make the categories not work correctly. They still transfer to the PI master category list but they don't transfer to the contacts.
I appreciate any help. I can't find info on categories anywhere.

After reading the additional info added to your prior post, I'm wondering if what you experienced is due to the limitation of ActiveSync not synchronizing Note Categories?

But these aren't note categories, they're contact categories. And the problems started after this thread that we both participated in.

I was under the impression that categories were categories. Further, that the problem began after notes were added to the contacts. Now, notes are not notes on WM, in fact, they almost appear to be an afterthought, and the only ones that sync are those under \My Documents\.
What has WebIS to say about it?

I left a post in the forums there but nobody responded.
