Software to automatically startup

For a newbie, how do I make MagicButton automatically activate when the PDA is turned on? Do I need to do something with the Startup folder?

Click and hold on the little house icon, Tap Settings, Check the Auto Start box.

Thanks, but I had to do a hard-reset do to a software glitch and I don't see the little house at the top menu anymore. Where can I activate the house?

If you truely did a hard reset, you'll probably have to reinstall more than just MagicButton.

If it was only a soft reset, MagicButton, along with all your other programs, will show up under START, PROGRAMS.

What I mean is I no longer see the house. What program do you activate the House (TODAY) soft button?

The first two say the same thing, which is how to get MagicButton running in the background, the third one is how to get MagicButton to activate when it's running in the background or to toggle it back to the background when it is active. The second part of the second one and the last one are how to get to the settings and menus of MagicButton when it has been activated from running in the background.

From my experience with x50v, turning on and off the PDA does not startup or shutdown any software. The PDA does not work like a PC, on which shutting down closes all the open software. Instead, whatever state the the software is in on PDA when you turn it off is the state it will be in when you turn it back on again.

With that said, Soft Resetting (SR) the PDA is similar to shutting down a PC. When you SR, and the PDA starts up again, all software is closed, and all unsaved data is lost.

I do not use Magic Button. I tried it last year, and didn't like it. But I do like having the ability to switch between open programs on the PDA, and (after trying disappointing AltTab simulators) have come to appreciate the Switcher Bar (default software), but I do not like having to turn it on after every SR.

To set up Switcher Bar so it launches after every SR, I copied the link for it (Switcher Bar.lnk) under Windows into Windows/Startup. Now everytime I SR my PDA, which is probably at least once a day, Switcher Bar comes back on :)

Hopefully this information will be helpful.

Relating to Switcher Bar:

I like the functions of this default software, however the icon is not so attractive. It not intergrate with my WAD. So I want to assign ( or change with) another icon. I do not know how to change it graphically??? Pls, any idea or suggestion?

Thanks

to auto start MagicButton whenever the pda starts (after reset), use the activesync or any kind of pda file explorer (resco, etc) copy the MagicButton executable file (eg. MagicButton.exe) and paste it under /windows/startup/ folder in your PDA. Any application listed there will be executed when the PDA starts after reset.

I use to do this with the oem switcherbar untill I find out that application is seriously bugged. Most often the switcherbar will just disappear and the only way to get it back is to soft reset.

WisBar Adv 2 has a built-in swiching function and I love it. You can choose wether to completely close or "minimize" the application. When you do minimize, it will show up as a small icon on top of the task bar.
