Somewhere here in a link I was reading a review of iLaunch. If I remember correctly, it used a lot of memory - more so than other programs, plus there were some other issues with it that I cannot remember.

Okay, after a quick search, here is the link on the thread by Menneisyys, and here is the link to the matrix comparison.

Yep, it was dynamic memory consumption that was 1.58MB - quite a chunk!

I see they have updated the version from the matrix comparison. Perhaps some of the issues raised have been fixed. I wouldn't imagine that you know if they fixed the 1.58MB issue, would you? I think I will fire them off an email asking that and about the other points raised in the comparison.

Cheers,
Dobermann

See, now I'm tempted to try again, yet I know eventually I'll delete it in disgust after it locks something up or slows my Ax to a crawl. Damn you WA2 for having such nice toys and at least for me, such bad behavior!

Interesting! I have been using the last two versions of iLaunch with WA2. I have also used Battery Pack Pro and SPB Pocket Plus (both with and without WA2). [I like to switch off between them every few months]

By far iLaunch/WA2 is the most stable combo that I have used - and I use it the most:approve: I am a SBSH fan.

I'll have to try their trial when I rebuild my Axim. But for $10, you can hardly go wrong buying it.

Loosing bottom menu bar

Here's a screenshot of my setup using Wisbar and the Silverado Theme:

I am having little luck using WISBAR 2.0 as the skins loose the bottom menu bar. In other words, the standard 5.0 lower menu bar is incorporated with the skin. The wallpaper also doens't update. HELP!

Hmm, lets see....
* Got tempted by this thread and installed new version last night.
* Configure and and install new version Silverado theme. Looks sweet
* Killed cascading start menu because it's still too slooooow
*This morning, had odd "stuck" off button issue causing task bar buttons to flash constantly. Makes drop down menus impossible to address. No idea why, soft reset fix.
* After killing background task (hold icon on task bar), flashing issue reappears. Soft reset again.
* After using wifi, I turn off unit, green light is off. Apparently wifi does not turn off and drains 84% of my battery. Never happened before.
* Install b/u battery and deactivate Wisbar (uninstall when I get home)
***Promise myself once again to never use Wisbar Advance 2!!!***

At least this time I was looking for problems after the WA2 install. Previously with my E805. I didn't associate all the small annoying problems with WA and thought they were hardware related. It seems many are happy with this ware, but it is bar none the worst behaving app I've ever used with the PocketPC!

awesome bug feedback...but go to lakeridgesoftware's forum (WA 2 official forum) and give your feedback/bug report there so the author can fix it in the next release.....saying it here only will do no good...

I totally agree TW! The most problems I had with my software release was related to WM5... I'm staying with 2003SE on my x50v. WA2 and all of my other apps work just fine without issues!

Most of the problems I've read about are related to WM5..

Hi Dobermann :)

First, I want to say I'm really sorry for replying on a post regarding one of our software titles; I usually really try to avoid replying on posts regarding our software (apart from support questions of course where I do my best to answer as quick as possible :) ), but I almost never reply to a post that refers to our software like this one.

However, I was reading this thread and I was so sure that I saw a post from Menneisyys saying the opposite thing than what you've mentioned in your post, that I thought it will be fair to mention it here too, since we've worked a lot to fix those issue with the latest version and I think it will be fair to mention it as a reply to your post :) (I really hope this is OK of course).

I've checked the review that you linked too and you are right, Menneisyys' review on this post indeed complains about a few issues with iLauncher, but, please notice this review is updated to version 2.1.01 and we are now at version 2.3.02 at this stage :)

I was starting to search for the post that I had in mind from Menneisyys and couldn't find it too... but, after a while searching through AximSite, I've managed to locate the posts that I remembered :approve:

This reply was posted by Menneisyys to the new iLauncher thread release (when version 2.3 was released) stating that:

"The SBSH people must have done something pretty damn well because (or, used the memory model of WM5 very good / dynamically swap their stuff in and out the dynamic memory when it's not needed – I don't know yet) I've consistently measured far better (lower) memory consumption results with the new version than with the previous version."

You can read his reply I'm talking about in the following URL:
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showp...4&postcount=18

In addition, on the same thread, you can find Menneisyys' review update (among the first 5 replies on this thread I believe) for the new iLauncher version :)

Ok - enough talking about iLauncher then I just felt it will be fair to mention that there was an update for the software since then and also an update for the review.

Have a wonderful new day!

Thanks ever so much for the info and link. Sounds like it is day and night to the previous issues. I'm now looking forward to trying it out!

Cheers,
Dobermann

Smooth update from 2.5. I notice a quicker response with the cascading menus.

Not sure if this was covered somewhere, but does it annoy anyone else that the Desktop option is now on the Start Menu? Does anyone know how to get rid of it? I read this...

Quote:
Added a "Desktop" option to the cascading start menu. This can be skinned by adding "Desktop Icon=" to the "[Start Menu Skin]" section.
...but have no idea what to do with it.

Any help is greatly appreciated!
