The only reason Outlook is allowed to exist on my PC is because it serves as a third line of defense for backups. Which I have never had to use (yet). I maintain all my categories on the PDA. And, in fact, the PDA is the master copy in my usage for all PIM data except email, where Thunderbird is the master on the PC.
I did have an issue with inconsistencies between my PC-based master category list and the categories on my PPC PDA at one point and honestly cannot recall completely how I resolved it, but vaguely remember that I had to correct them on PC Outlook then force an overwrite to the PDA?
Perhaps the only way to know for sure would be to undetake a systematic and structured testing regimen where both the PC and the PDA were hard reset between each testing phase. Determining the permutations or combinations (or even the distinction between a permutation and a combination) necessary to adequately design such a series of tests is beyond my abilities on a Sunday evening.
Of those currently in Outlook, the categories are consistent with those on the PDA.
