Usually you can only save documents in the folder "My Documents" and Cabs only where they want but with FDC it is possible to save it wherever YOU want.
I'm obviously missing something, because I've spent 15 minutes wrestling with this thing. I copied gsGetFile.dll to \Windows, and copied the ARM\filedlgchg.cpl to \Windows. It doesn't show up in Settings\System nor does trying to Open it in Total Commander or File Explorer bring up anything. I read the Japanese and followed the directions -- no dice. Any suggestions?
After you copy both the files to \Windows you should find a new settings panel in Start->Settings->System called File Dialog Changer. In there you can activate it and exclude certain programs, Opera is one program that needs exclusion...
If it doesn't show up then try a soft reset and see if it appears.
I am running 2003 SE. I have noticed problem when I upgrade programs and use the FileDialogChanger 1.65 (and the other versions). If for example I want to install my SK Tools upgrade to \storage card\My Programs\
(I am just using SK Tools for an example. This is a general problem with all upgrade installations).
What happens is that it adds another SK Tools directory within the existing SK Tools directory.
Example: I started with the first instal of SK Tools at \storage card\My Programs\
This results the creation of a new directry (as it should of)
\storage card\My Programs\SK Tools\
Then I try to upgrade SK Tools
I select storing the program atain at:
\storage card\My Programs\
It will not let me. It automatically opens the existing direcrory of the old instalation:
\storage card\My Programs\SK Tools\
If I click install then I get the new installation added this way:
\storage card\My Programs\SK Tools\SK Tools\
The only way to stop this is to uninstall the old version or delete the directory.
Is there a registry hack that needs to be done to stop this so it will just install over the old installation and keep all my .ini files and such (with other installations)?
