Ilauncher

I downloaded the latest Ilauncher and so far I like it except for a couple of things.

The battery bar. Is there anyway to modify it? Color, style etc.

Icon captions. The only way I can get all of the caption text to display is by using extremely small fonts. Otherwise the sides get chopped off. Max spacing between icons is 3 pixels and that doesnt seem to help.

I suppose you can widen the distance between icons - that may help. Peronally I like to edit the caption and abbreviate.

Like twmiller said, the latest version allows you to increase the space between icons.

Does the new iLauncher fix the memory leak issues some users have experienced?

??? Not really sure what you mean, beyond what I already noted in my first post.

I'll have to do some reading to see what others are experiencing. I do know that my free memory usually runs around 29-31MB with nothing running in the background. But with Ilauncher running it has slowly declined to 25.25 currently. Seems like every time I run and then close a program free mem gets less and less. Soft reset brings it back to 31+MB.
Come to think of it, that sounds like a memory leak

Sounds like good old Microsoft WM issue if you ask me.

Do you mean the title bar meter at the very top of the screen? I don't think it's configurable other than what meter it represents.

With this, too, I think your modifications are confined. The text is confined to the width of the icon, no matter how much space you assign between images.

Yes. I find the bar a little hard to read sometimes with varying angles/light conditions. It would be much better if you could make it a solid color and get rid of the index marks. Pocket Plus has a better implementation in my opinion.

After a little fiddling I was able to work around this. Some of the default names are too long. By adding spaces in the captions and increasing the caption height I now have full captions displayed. An example is "PowerPoint Mobile" was on 2 lines with the P and t cutoff. Added a space in there and now its "Power Point Mobile" wrapped to 3 lines.

To each his/her own. I like the iLauncher power bar just the way it is.

I own Battery Pack Pro, SPB Pocket Plus, and iLaunch / WisBar advance. All three has some cool functionality, but iLaunch is the best launcher of the three (and most reliable) in my opinion.

I chose a font size of 16, which is good for me. You can also change the actual text of the icon caption, which makes sense in some cases anyway.

Are you actually closing the programs with a task manager that works?
If you just tap the X in the program, it's minimized, not closed, so it will still take up memory.

After closing a program I always use the memory applet to close all running programs:) Its most definitely a memory leak.

I wonder if they will ever build this feature into iLauncher. It would make sense to not only be able to launch your programs via iLauncher but be able to close them as well. ;)
