I have done restores using both products on my X50V with WM2K3.2; however, I am not familiar with your PDA. My View MyPDA shows my current software inventory. IMHO the time to find out if your backups are any good or not is not during a crisis. I strongly recommend validating the process and data beforehand. There is a link to a discussion of this topic off of my View MyPDA, as well.

They both work.

I purachased spb backup because it works, it has the features I need, and it didn't cost $$$$$$$$

It has saved my butt twice - works like a charm.

this might be the best time to ask this...

I'm using SPB backup .... and within the \Windows folder ... there are numerous file with extensions ( DSM & RGU ) .... currently I got 55 of them (combined)

not sure if they are growing everytime doing a backup/restore or not ... and they don't take up much space (501KB total )... just curious ....

another thing ... I swear this is true !!

I've made images ... let's say it is at 30MB right now ... went on to add more programs...etc...

now I do another image ... and the filesize is actually smaller !!!! ...
keep in mind .. this wasn't always the case ... just the odd one that I've noticed ... weird !

it's all there ... I tested it ... but logically .... shouldn't it be bigger ????

~~~
I believe a major difference is Sprite has the Windows desktop optional extra software so that you can create and manage backups of the PPC to the desktop machine instead of an SD card or whatever. True? I use Sprite with desktop option, works a treat.
I just transfers the EXE file to the desktop afterward ... same result...different route
currently I have around 10 diffferent images ( almost ready for a CDR burn ... LOL !) .... each with a different customization ( games, business, productivities...etc )...ready to be implemented at a moment's wish :)
out of all the images I have ... I personally like the one where I only have a fresh hard reset + the additional 2 tweaks ( fake server + setsecurity ) ... always start from there if I want a different custom image :approve:
Last time I tried Sprite still didn't work with WM5, so I went with Spb Backup.
KSCASE - Sprinte 5+ now works with WM5 - I ahve tried both but prefer Spb - I think because I trust the Spb software more as a whole.
I've been using both and they work like a charm. The only thing I don't like about SPB is that it doesn't save the password that you use for logging in.
