podcasts?

Hello all, I would like to listen to pod casts on my x50v. Is something available like feeder reader? The install for feeder reader is too laborious I just don’t have the time. I’m looking for a simpler alternative. Thanks

There are 2 methods for Podcast catching on Axim:

1-Use a standalone RSS aggregator on your WM devices (e.g. Newsbreak, FeederReader, etc.). I think this works well especially on a Mobile Phone device w/ED-VO or when you are on WiFi frequently w/o a PC/Laptop

2-Use a RSS aggregator (e.g. iTunes, Juice, etc.) on your PC then use an utility such MobSync to sync the Podcasts to your WM device storage card over ActiveSync. This is my method of choice. Mobsync launches automatically when ActiveSync starts and constantly monitor for bi-directional synchronization

As far as players. My preferences:

1-Mortpalyer: for the auto playlist creation and the auto sorted with the latest on top. (in addition to an awsome skin engine...) - This only works w/Audio podcast

2-TCPMP/BetaPlayer: can be used for both audio/video, especially for Video podcast. You'd need to dig some additional plug-ins (AAC, AVC-H.624)

Both of these players support album art, if the audio podcast does not have a picture embedded, you might want to create a jpg logo and save it as Folder.jpg and store in the same directory. This will display the logo when playing.

You can find all the links to the utilities I mentioned above here!

There's an install video that shows the steps you need to follow to install FeederReader. It even includes grabbing the latest Compact Framework, if necessary, and shows you where to look to check if you have the latest.

I encourage you to spend 6 minutes watching it and following along
http://www.FeederReader.com/ScreenCasts/Cast01_040.wmv

If you have WM5.0, then you won't need to do all the steps. Details are here:
http://feederreader.pocketcasting.co....php?p=921#921

Then once you get it installed, the Getting Started video for using FeederReader is here:
http://www.FeederReader.com/ScreenCa...st02B_041A.wmv

If you have any questions or suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

Hey Solsie - I've been tempted to look at Mobsync but have never got round to it - will it run OK on a WM% device?

No problem with WM5! Just use the settings that allow auto start when ActiveSync starts and auto stop when "uncradled" :approve:

Cool - thanks - going to try that, as I use FeedDemon and have plenty of podcasts on my laptop that I'd like to look at syncing ...

I've got what is likely a really stupid question...I'm new to the entire PPC game, having switched from Palm OS. How do I put files onto a SD card using ActiveSync? I've only managed to put files onto my main memory..

Oh, and I second TCPMP. Wonderful program.

TIA

1-Manually, On the ActiveSync Windows, there is an Explore icon on top, click on that will open a new windows showing your Axim \My Documents contents; Click on My Windows Mobile device, you will see your storage card and other directories, from there just normal business, copy paste, drag, etc...

2-Automatic sync. Only media contents using your PC WMP10 that can be sync'ed via ActveSync. My WM-Documents contents will sync to Axim \My Document (Main memory) not storage card. And that is the reason to use an utility such Mobsync.

Hope that helps!

iTunes Agent is running on your PC not Axim. Read more here!

As I understand it, this is a program that you run on your desktop or laptop computer, not your Axim.

SolSie- First, your site is great! Second- I must be an idiot because I am a bit confused after reading the info on the last link you gave me. (http://solsie.com/?p=51)
Let me see if I get this right- to use my iTunes library on my x51v running WM5, I:
#1- download iTunes Agent onto my PC, then Active Sync it to the Axim.
#2- I also need to download to my PC .Net Framework 2.0 Final. Then Active Sync it onto the Axim.
#3-Download Soltice Card Export II onto PC, then Sync.
Is this correct? Will I still be able to download other things onto my Kingston 1gig SD card? Will I still have the games on the card, or will this last program reformat it to music only?
I really appreciate the time and the help. Thanks and take care, chillykim
