Well folks, as the warm weather is arriving here in Canada and the spring fishing season has opened in some areas I went out with a buddy and we tried our luck.
On our outing we took a break and returned to the hole for the evening/sunset fishing when the fish tend to come in to feed. This time around, we noticed a HUGE jump in the number of fish being pulled in - not by just us (well, I only caught one

) but EVERYONE fishing around us!
Anyway, my buddy and I met up a few days later and the topic of SoLunar tables came up. He had a clipping from the daily paper and I had by chance been looking it up on the 'net.
For those of you unfamiliar with a SoLunar Table, go here for a lesson.
Solunar Services - The Solunar Theory Explained
Long story short, the times on the calendar vary based on your location and I don't know about you guys, but we don't really plan our trips, we just cruise around in the car looking for spots.
There's a lot of online calculators and even progams you can download for your PC available but those are of no use to me because
1) We don't usually know where we're going so I can't check in advance
2) We don't have a laptop
Well, with that in mind I came here looking for answers but found none.
With a little persistant Googling, I came across Soltab. It is Freeware/Donationware and works on my Axim x50v.
There is a PC version also available which can export calendars to .pdf format
which you can also copy to your ppc.
This software can be found here:
http://www.otsinnovations.tzo.com/ - Okay this link is now dead
Software available on Simtel
On Pocket PC Freeware
If you guys find or know of any other software out there, pls let me know.
It would be nice there was a program you could tie into a GPS receiver and get
realtime updates.
Oh, I said the software works on my PPC, it does but I can't vouch for the accuracy of the calendar - this is a "poor" day to go out so I think I'll stay home.
EDIT: For those of you who don't have a GPS receiver, here's a trick I used to use.
Go to google maps and find the area you wish to go to.
On the top - right of the map, you see a button marked "Link to this page". This will convert the address at the top of your browser
into an address you can copy/paste send to a friend or do whatever you want. This addess also includes the GPS co-ordinates for the area.
Okay, I know GPS coords are a spot not an area but I don't know if the coords given are for the centre of the page or the top left corner, top right, whatever but if you don't have a receiver, this is a start.
