I downloaded the demo for Pocket Backup and like it a lot....expensive though!! Most of the time you get what you pay for and if it'll save me hours worth of work and frustration then it's definitely worth it to me.

I was forced to do an ActiveSync restore yesterday after a sofware based "soft reset" program did me the favor of a "hard reset" instead. Although the steps I had to take seemed a little odd, and the restore took forever, it worked fine.

I had to set up a new relationship with a different name, and then copy my backup file from the old relationship into the directory for the new relationship.

I'm just glad I had done a backup within the last 24 hours.

If this happens again, don't form a new partnership. Just hit Cancel and it will sign you in as a quest. You can then run your restore from there, instead of having to do any copy and pasting.

Raynne413 - Thanks for the advise. I figured if it was only connected as a guest, it would not let me do a restore. That will save some time if it happens again.

You are quite welcome. I thought the same thing, too, when I had to do a restore.

Rayanne413 - Read your resonse to the backup issue. As a new user, I have not experienced a need to do a recovery. Will the Active sync recovery replace my applications as well as the files or should I purchase something like Backup Plus to ensure the apps are recovered?

Active Sync SHOULD restore everything that was on your ppc, including files, apps, and your registry. However, it takes awhile to do it, and every once in awhile, it will fail. I used it for the first three months or so that I had my Axim, but only ran a restore once. I got Pocket Backup Plus when I went to FL because I wouldn't be near a computer to run a restore if I needed to.

What medium are you backing up to if not to your pc?

I create a self-extracting file and tell the program to save it on my CF card. It is basically like an installation file, so that if I have a hard reset, and pocket backup is erased, it really doesn't matter, as it will reinstall everything.
