Resource Hogging Today Screen Plugins(X51v)
I recently tried out SPB Pocket Plus(P+) and Wisbar Advance 2(WA2). While I do like these apps very much, I find that they seem to slow down my X51v rather significantly. Does anyone else using these plug-ins in WM5 experience the same problem? The lag was particularly noticeable with WA2, even without a fancy theme installed.

What was the version of Wisbar Advanced you were using? There was a version that just didn't work at all on WM5.
Other than that, I've had no issues with either of those programs.

I had PocketBreeze (PB), Spb Pocket Plus (PP), Pocket Weather (PW), and PocketRSS.
It ran like crap.
New pocketBreeze and iLauncher (to replace PP). Now its awesome. The updated sbsh programs are awesome.
The only thing I miss of PP is the IE plugin for multiple windows.
Can you find that feature in a single install?

Tried out several combos...
I'm using the latest version of Wisbar Advance 2(v2.6). My initial plan was to install these 3 today screen plug-ins together: Wisbar Advance 2, SPB Pocket Plus, and SPB Diary. The system lag was HUGE. I then tried installing these combos(with a good old hard reset between attempts):
(1)WA2 + SBSH Pocket Breeze + iLauncher + Magic Button (a little slow, has a VERY bad habit of getting stuck in the Programs menu and the only way to resolve the problem is with a soft reset. I understand this is a problem of many task manager plug-ins, but didnt see it in Pocket Plus).
(2)WA2 + SBSH Pocket Breeze + SPB Pocket Plus (Not very different from what i started with- significant system lag)
(3)Pocket Breeze + iLauncher + Magic Button(noticeable system slowdown immediately after a soft reset which goes away after a while. Also gets stuck in the Programs screen very frequently)
(4)Pocket Plus + SPB Diary(Slower soft reset, unlike combo 4 there is a LASTING lag on the system...tolerable, but still noticeable.
As you might have guessed, what I need is a today screen plugin package that can display my PIM information, launch programs from the today screen, and close the programs properly(not just minimize them. In the end, I settled for combo number 3 because it seemed to be the speediest and I liked the Magic Button taskbar that allows me to switch programs with just a single click.
Any other combos you guys think I should try or want me to try? I'll post the results here as soon as i can, which might be a while since I've got lots on my hands ATM.
Is there anyway I can stop Magic button from getting stuck in the Programs menu. This is by far my biggest frustration with the program. If only it didn't do this I would rate the program as perfect. Any alternative programs(freeware/commercial) which don't have the bug? I've heard bout vBar, but don't know if it causes this too.

Those eye candy are just retarded for me, just stick to the default theme without all the resource hogging programs. all i need is a simple, fast and functional pda. try this:
Calendar+
magicbutton
resco explorer (with its Today plugin, you can add shortcuts to your favourite applications and it shows your battery and memory info.)
its not as pretty though, but its speed beats the crap out of your current configuration

Nerdy,
have you tried combo 1 without magic button? WA2 will close programs down completely so there is no need for magic button. It's the combo I currently run, with ilauncher, SBSH clock, weather panel and pocket quicken as tabs in PB. I find my X30 runs just fine with these, with minimal slowdown on the program menu, and switching between tabs is very quick.

I have to agree that WA2 (running v.2.4.1.15 Beta) causes major slow downs on my x50v WM5. I switched to WA2 from Magic Button, because I got tired of having to soft reset every day or so with MB, and WA2 seemed like the best alternative for program switching and "real" close. I also use iLauncher.
I've thought about trying vbar. Anyone have a comparison vbar vs Magic Button?

I've been using vbar for the past few days and it seems to work better than MB. Doesn't hang so easily in the Programs page and its 'close all' function works better than magic button's. however, it still gets jammed occasionally, on avg i have to soft reset abt once a day.
