Pocket Informant and Outlook on PC

With Pocket Outlook, you can enter contacts and schedules on Outlook on your PC and have it transfer over. Can this be done with Pocket Informant as well? Can Pocket Informant connect with Outlook on the PC...in that I enter contacts and schedules in Outlook on my desktop and it will transfer over into Pocket Informant? If not, which desktop app allows this type of functionality with Pocket Informant? Or...am I left to enter every contact, task, appointments via Pocket Informant on my Axim?

Yes, pocket informant syncs with outlook on your desktop. It's a great program. I highly recommend it. :approve:

Pocket informant is so good, I rarely type anything in my desktop outlook (except e-mail).

I agree with everything that's been said so far. In fact, I think the features are better in PI and always use it to enter individual entries if possible. :approve:

Thanks guys! I'll give it a try. I'm using PI currently, and would love it if I can enter things from the desktop.

Does it??? AFAIU, it is MS ActiveSync who syncronizes contacts database between PPC and PC, but not PI itself.

Yes, that's correct. In fact, Pocket Informant uses the same databases as the built in contacts, calendar, and tasks applications - but it does a fantastic job of tying them together, and then some!

So activesycn will sync the data with outlook, and PI sits on top of it to add additional functionality to it..

I know this is an older question, and if I have to use Outlook on the PC I will have to do so, but can PI synch with Outlook Express????

Thanks

ActiveSync does not sync with Outlook Express to the best of my knowledge, which is why Outlook is on the Axim CD. However, if you have both Outlook and Outlook Express on the same PC, I believe that they can share a common data store. Therefore, you could probably use Outlook Express and PI (or any other PIM on the PPC) and ignore that fact that the real sync work is being done by Outlook. There may be fields that are available in Outlook and not Outlook Express (or vice-versa).
