Several months ago, I tried the latest version of SPB Finance. Can't remember the rev number, but it was the latest beta. The feature list included one that really caught my attention: syncing budgets with desktop MS Money.
Unfortunately, things didn't work as hoped and I removed the software.
Does anyone (specifically, Denis :) ) know if there has been any significant development in this regard?
Thank you for the question. You are right not everything is as good as we wish it should be it in Spb Finance budget synchronization part. There are a number of problems (some of them was found after release) that we still not fixed:
1. Changes of budget at PPC side will not be reflected at Desktop side (this is a bug we plan to fix in next update)
2. New budgets created at PPC side will be synchronized with desktop only if budget view in Microsoft Money is set to Advanced. (This problem need extra investigation. We are working on it)
3. Money keeps some internal information as hidden budgets. Current version of synchronizer is not able to distinguish normal budgets from hidden budgets so some unexpected records may appear at PPC side (we are working on it and plan to fix in next update).

Spb Finance budgets synchronization with MS Money has few know problems.
We are working on these problems and plan to release new update with proper fixes. There is no exact time estimation of new update release, because some issues need extra investigation, but we doing our best to make fixes as soon as possible.

Thanks for the detailed and honest response. While I haven't had the best luck with that particular app, your service and responsiveness on these boards has always impressed me. That level of customer service is rare and I think it speaks very highly of you and your company. Good luck ironing out the kinks with SPB Finance and budget sync. Once you get everything up and working, I'll be the first in line to buy! :approve:
While I have your attention... has the stability of MS Money syncing improved? That was the real deal breaker for me last time... SPB Finance really messed up my entire activesync process. If you have improved the stability of just the general sync process, I might give the app another shot. Budget syncing would be nice, but is something I can wait for. If you can do just regular transaction syncing without errors, let me know and I think I'll try again. Thanks!
Forge42 - I have no connection with SPB at all, being just a user of the software for a while now. Although SPB Finance does have its problems, I do find it accurate and reliable re syncing finance transactions. Not lost any items since last update.
I do wish I could get it to sync just unreconciled items though!

I think we will have a new version for a testing very soon so you'll beter wait until it ( I think one-two weeks), because we going to fix budget syncronization issues.

I'm not sure about synchronization of unreconciled items, but probably it's better to sync everything but hide items that you don't want to see? It's possible to hide reconciled transaction in current version of Spb Finance.
But anyway this request is already in the Spb Finance feature list for the future versions =)

I already use the "hide" function, but you're still forced to download the whole darn database of money items. Since they're all on the PC in Microsoft Money anyway, I really can't see the point, it's just taking up valuable space on PPC.

Thanks Denis - In fact it was one of the "features" I had a discussions with SPB about some while ago, and was then told it would be in the next release, but that was a version ago. I still have the email (I think) if interested. Much appreciate you participating in this discussion; sort of convinces one to hang on instead of finding an alternative.

Good to hear that a new version might be coming out soon. Will there be an announcement here or should I just keep checking the SPB website?
I just recently got the trial of SPB Finance and let it expire.
Will I be able to try it again after the next release, (without having to hard reset) or am I out of options?

Yes. Victor (our main developer of sync part) said to me that he already have this request in the feature list. I bag you my pardon for delaying with it.
Typically we give bigger priority to bug fixing, while new features are typically has smaller priority. That's a reason of postponing. It's very hard to give any promises, but we doing our best to add all frequently requested features one by one. Some times adding a new feature is simple; some times it may cause adding new bugs as well. So we are doing it very accurately from version to version.
