Tweaks2k shot the sherrif

I installed tweaks2k.net last night applied a couple of tweaks then it suddenly said the trial period was over and I would need to register it. NP although a coupl of hours trial aint much. I have just switced my X51v back on and now can't run any of my installed programs. It says the file "application name" cannot be opened, either it is not signed with a truswted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. The application specific icons have also disapeared???????????

Any ideas ?
I will post on their site forum l8r
I will now be buying a backup utility LOL any suggestions on best one? All this software is costing me a fortune !

not sure how to help... but the tweals2k demo is for 3 runs... not time limited. I think the 3rd time it tells you that it's the last time.

As for backup software you'll either want the wm5 version of sprite or SPB backup

Search for ctitanic, send him a pm. Then if he's not around our boards right now, contact him through the tweaks2k2.NET website. He'll set you right.

Other than that you could buy his program. IT's updated faster than I can keep up with. That's a good thing. ;)

Thanks for the quick response. Yes I suspected that but I cant remember it saying that on their site. I have sent them an e-mail....I think !! the support is a bit shaky on the site. The support form directs me to a dead link. It many not be there application but its too much of a coincidence

The irony is that I wasnt even going to trial it I was just going to go straight ahead and buy it until they expressed on the site that I should try it before I buy it LOL LOL ....

Citanic is a pretty helpful (if incredibly busy) guy... so I'm sure you'll get a decent reply

Another issue related to this program is that the program always had me doing a softreset while my unit was on but I believe this is not a good practise for the RAM (ram section at the bottom):

Soft-Reset is our Friend, :)

It's a three-day holiday in the USA so support at Frank's site may be out for awhile. Can you make it til Tuesday?

While I would never pretend to know even half as much as Chris on this subject, I don't see how you can avoid soft resetting it while it is turned on about 90% of the time. Usually what happens is that something gets hung and you soft reset to clear it. Some of those times it might not even turn off. If his theory is correct it would really change the way a lot of people use the pda IMHO. It almost makes it too fragile.

No I am just gonna hardset set it and learn from the experience. I have only just received my unit and installed all the applications but there is no data lost as such. Just a pain re-installing but NP.

I will pursue the issue though to identify if there is a problem/ resolution that we can all learn from.

Check, in your file browser if your storage device has been renamed to anything or the Same name but ending with a 2.

And for the record. the support form is working and the only request of help I have got was a PM.

About Tweaks2K2 trial. I runs 5 times. No matter if you do that in 5 mins or 5 hours.

there is not such thing as holidays for me when there is somebody calling for help with one of my programs. That's one of the differences between the tech support you get in other "places" and my tech support.

True but it is maybe something we should look at. It may be why applications hang in the first place?

Another one is the finite number of read/writes in memory:

http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...=76407&page=16

""""Traditional EEPROM chips of 10 years ago have Write-Erase durability of 10,000 cycles.

Flash chips have higher durability cycles of 100,000 cycles or up to 500,000 cycles depending on the manufacturer - BUT Flash chips have a problem where if you want to make any small change to it, what it does is actually :
1. read entire content of flash block
2. erase entire content of flash block
3. rewrite entire content of flash block with new changes
(a flash block can be anywhere from 0.5MB to ?MB)

This is different from EEPROM where changes are only made on byte level - where if changes required on one byte, only that byte is changed...

Does anyone know who manufactures our "ROM" and whether it's FLASH memory or EEPROM memory?

If our BIS is FLASH, then we must be careful that we don't store any programs which will write and erase a lot of "temporary" files - or else we will use up our 100,000 cycles pretty quickly... """"""""""""""""""""

DOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Most humble appologies. I have root caused it. I should add that I am very well educated with three accredited degrees and work as an engineering consultant and can now demonstrate that it was all for nothing.

I had installed all my apps to my SD card. Guess what ? yes you guessed it, my SD card was in the card reader and not in my AXIM.

Can I have been more stupid lol. I BLAME THE JACK DANIELS

Thanks to all for the very quick response.

Just away to buy Tweaks2k.net now LOL LOL LOL LOOL
