Well it took a little longer than I expected... But the Opera Team have come through....

You can transfer your license to a new pda (up to 2 times per year)

http://my.opera.com/community/forums....pl?id=1627248

now all i need is a volunteer to buy me 2 new pdas per year :hint hint:

Morphgear was just about as bad....I ended up getting three units within a month and they wouldn't send a new code for over 30 days from the last time I installed. I learned not to reinstall...in this case they should be more receptive.

Well one way to get them to change their ways is to not buy their software. I am in a toss up between the new Netfront and Opera... and I was kinda leaning toward Opera until this.

Netfront seems a to have one up on Opera in several ways.

Opera will talk to you though... have you seen the horrible customer support from Netfront for pocket PC????

(No vested interest btw,, haven't decided which one to get... and i've only got a couple of days left on my trials... )

NetFront still hasn't fixed some bugs... and never answered tech support emails, IIRC. At least Opera seems to have SOMEONE alive in their offices. :D

I am surprised at all opera bashing here. I am using 8.6 for a few weeks on my x50v & it has been working in beautiful vga flawlessly. All the web pages have been so much easier to read than PIE, and it does java stuff to boot. Maybe I am just lucky?

Overall.....I do not like the concept of a license....but go along if the eula doesnt seem too oppressive.......I like opera so far ....especially the mini one on my blackberry.....but the business model that depends on licensure is problematic at best IMO

I purchased NetFront but have a lot of problems with it:

1) This is the worst problem. 70% of the time I have to reset my X50v before I could start up NetFront. At that time, I did not have Opera installed.

2) Digital certs could not be imported. NetFront replied to me admitting that certain certs could not be imported.

3) Java is not working. I could not view both the Java applet samples that came with the NetFront installation.

I wrote to NetFront asking for a refund. They asked me to ask for it from Handango. I did and Handango gave me a refund.

Now I intend to buy Opera. But at $24, it is rather tough (I got the NetFront at a discount). Anyone got a discount coupon for Opera?
