Worried Is SBP Pocket plus the best there is ???

Hi all,,,
Have only had my x51v for a few weeks,, so am still learning,,,,slowly,,,

Installed spb pocket plus trial a few weeks ago,, mainly because of the ability to close down programs instantly ,,, just like you can on your pc.
Was getting cheesed off with the process of doing it manualy with the switcher bar,, but also was intrested by some of the other options it has.

Now,,,,the tial has ended and i am very tempted to pay for the full registered version,,,,, but,,,,, i would be intrested in trying any other software that is similar to pocket plus,, before i take the plunge.

Is pocket plus the best software for this type of thing,,, or is there something else out there that my money would be better spent on ???
I know this is probably a case of " each to their own ",,,but what is the peoples choice ????

Would appreciate any guidance or advice before i part with my hard earned !
Cheers,, kev.

if it's just the closing thing you want try (the free) magic button or vBar.

If it's the gizmos try Wisbar advanced 2 or iLauncher

If it's the PIE additional features try PIE plus.

Best is always a difficult one, but see what works for you

Thanks for the quick reply,,,
I think i was sort of looking for one program,,, rather than downloading 3 or 4 that may well be fantastic,, but might not be exactly what i am looking for,,
Then again,,,,,do i actually know what i am looking for,, having only tried SPB pocket plus.
Is spb software a well recognised and respected bit of kit,, or does it do a lot of things ok,,, but not particulary the best ???

Sorry for the vaugeness of my question,, i am still near the bottom of the learning curve (i think )

It really depends on what you are looking for it to do. For the close button, I highly recommend Wisbar as it gives you GREAT functionality that is used every time you use your PocketPC. I bought PocketPlus a year ago and really only use the battery meter feature that sits on top of the title bar. Repeating alarms are nice as well. As for the main interface on the today screen, I've stopped using it and now have PocketBreeze controlling my today screen. Actually PocketPlus is one of the tabs that I have under PocketBreeze, but I never go to it. I just don't find anything there that is that useful... launching programs happens from the cascading start menu that comes with Wisbar. Also, wisbar comes with a free trial so you should try it in any case and see if it would add value for you. Hope this helps.

spb pocket plus is a jack of all trades program... although it does have a lot of fans that are happy with it.

The other major camp uses the SBSH Pocket breeze/iLauncher combo with vBar or magic button for the closer.

And then the skinners like Wisbar advanced 2.

if you're happy then by all means go for it, it seems to work for you, but then part of the fun is playing with the software.

Have just had a good luck at the wisbar advance 2,, and for a few quid,, it didnt look bad at all,,,, so,,, have it installed already.
Must say,,,on first experiences,,it looks like its a good move,,, hope its as good as i think it is.
Dont know wether its just my imagination,,but,,,i am sure the axim is running faster all of a sudden. Very fast at opening pages, closing, etc,,very fast.
Have had it set to run at 624ghz since i got it, but it all seems to have speeded up a lot,,, maybe wisbar was the right move after all.
Thanks for the advice guys,,, will keep ya posted over the next few days,,,

Glad you like Wisbar! It is an awesome program (although I cannot seem to get into the desktop software they offer)... Make sure you download some skins, it looks truly awesome on my X51v (with VGA skins).

I use Wisbar Ad 2 + iLauncher + Pocket Breeze combo. Pocket Plus looks extremely ugly compared to iLauncher.

OK --

I own Battery Pack Pro, Pocket Plus, Pocket breeze, iLauncher, and wisbar advance 2.

As far as today screen goes, PB, iLaunch, and wisbar advance2 works and looks the best.

Pocket Plus brings additional options (IE, explorer, safe mode) which I have enabled.

Battery pack pro is kind of neat and I use it occasionally (every three months for a change).

In the end, I always go back to PB, iLaunch, and wisbar advance2

Here's another vote for PocketBreeze, iLauncher, and WisBar for the perfect storm of today screen beauty and functionality.

It's all a matter of personal preference. Most of these programs offer a free trial. Download them and try them out. The one that works for me may be totally wrong for you. BTW I use Spb Pocket Plus

Also most of these companies have discounts that get posted here, so if you are not in a hurry and watch the posts you can get good discounts....

I have Pocket Plus, Pocket Breeze, Wisbar (2 and Desktop), Pocket Informant and many other programs.

Interesting that so many folks here like PocketBreeze. I had the exact opposite reaction. I tried PocketPlus and PocketBreeze both, but ended up liking Pocket Plus with Pocket Diary much better. To each his own, I guess.

I am interested in trying out Wisbar 2 which many of you mentioned. Where can I find it?

Wisbar is pretty cool, but its for WAY more than closing. As others have said, don't spend money if all you want is to close applications.
