Ok I want to make my own skins, with my own backgrounds, but i dont have xp and thats all the microsoft one works for. So what should i download to make my own skins?

I have tried several theme generators and I like the MS one the best. Unfortunately (as you already know) it only works with 98/2000/XP.

You should be able to use any software for Windows 98 with ME. They are the same operating system. The Millenium Edition was just 98 with all the bug fixes. Try to use it with ME. I've installed many 98 programs on my old ME system with no problems whatsoever.

Make sure you are using the newest version of the MS Theme Generator and it should work. I personally use ThemeMakerPT which can be downloaded at pocketthemes.com. The trial version is unlimited use and just has a couple features disabled (that aren't necessary for making themes).

it's also possible to use a program like ICbar and make a skin for your menubar....

I've also had problems with MS Theme Generator even under Win98 - but thanks for the tip re: ThemeMakerPT - I'm downloading the trial now and will give it a go!

This is a good theme maker for 98 users or those who cannot get the Theme Generator to work. It has worked well for me.
