Installed Total Commander

I found an internal (to our network) FTP server and verified that
Resco fails for that server also. I think it is the same failure, but
it flashes by in less than half a second so it's hard to tell.

I downloaded and installed Total Commander, and it also fails on
the local internal server, this time with an error "PORT command failed."
I configured the site with the IP address followed by ":21" so I'm not
sure what that is about.

The TC Help file says it has a log feature. I used the registry editor
and followed the instructions until it said to double tap on
+AddValue+ which doesn't exist. Great!

I'll try TC with ftp.microsoft.com from home tonight. Thanks for
hanging with me on this.

Intermittent Success!

No time last night.... tried from home this morning before leaving for work.

Total Commander was able to connect successfully to ftp.microsoft.com,
so I tried Resco on the same site and it was successful. Tried Resco with
comcast.net and it failed; tried again and it was successful!

So some intermittent condition is causing Resco to not only fail the
FTP but causes Resco to exit and stop running. And then one time it worked.

I can't test anything from here at work. We can't even connect to
ftp.microsoft.com, so I will have to wait until I get more time at home to
thoroughly document and test Resco versus TC and microsoft.com
versus comcast.net.

I'll post here when I get a complete set of test data. Just wish there was
some way to log the Resco messages to a file. The failure is so fast that
screen capture is a hit-or-miss affair.

Resco FTP works for me too. With regards to crashing the explorer, I haven't encountered this yet but I have experienced that it freezes my pda temporarily while it searches for a non-existent socket and resumes when it timed out.

I love Resco FTP to be honest. It connects to various ftp sites; paid hosting, hosting at a friends, even connects to my xbox over my network.

I never really had any problems with it.

Yeah. I've never heard of many problems with Resco's FTP.

Dude, if you just can't get anything to work you may want to consider a hard-reset of your Axim. Seriously.

Comcast.net is the problem

Had some time to experiment over the weekend. Connecting
to ftp.microsoft.com was successful 100% of the time. So it is
something unique to upload.comcast.net that causes the connection
failure and then causes File Explorer itself to stop running.

Odd thing is that about 5% of the time, connection to comcast
works! It's probably not worth contacting Comcast; since there
are no log files, there is no way to isolate the difference between
the successful and failure sessions. Oh, well.
