Anyone get Resco FTP to work?
Resco File Explorer 5.40 supports FTP transfers. I can get it to connect, login successfully, then it issues a RESTART command that crashes Explorer.
I paid for a license code and the program recognizes that it is a registered version, so I don't think it is a deliberate cripple of the trial version. Previously crippled tasks such as Pasting now work with the recognized registration.
I posted the question on the Resco forum at http://www.resco.net/forums/ShowPost...stID=5785#5785 two weeks ago and have had no reply.
Has anyone ever used Resco FTP with success?
Walt

Hi Walt,
Not sure I can help here but I can confirm that it does work as expected for me. I am using it to ftp files to my site or as a way to quickly share files, etc. I connect to about 7 different ftp sites using Resco FE/FTP. I'm not up to speed on the troubleshooting but I do hope you get an answer that helps you figure it out.
Love and peace,
Chris

Explain "issues a RESTART command and crashes Explorer". Are we talking about your desktop computer? I've never seen Explorer crash on my Axim.
First of all, are you trying to connect to your own personal FTP server or a public one?
Reinstall Resco maybe?
I have been using Resco for months now and it works great.
Open Resco and then go to My FTP Locations and click Menu to Create a New Session. Its pretty easy from there.

I confirm that ftp of Resco Explorer works without crashing my x50v.
However, does anyone know whether there is a way to specify a folder locally to receive and transfer file during ftp. Right now, I only figured out how to first select some files from the server, then use the "Move to" command to open the tree structure, and then tap on a folder as a destination folder. There should be a smarter method to specify a local folder upfront, so that I don't have to specify a destination everytime transfer a file by using the "Move to" command. If anyone knows whether Resco can do this, please let me know.
Finally, does anyone know how the "Receive" function of Resco Explorer work?

No problems here with Resco FTP - and to specify a local folder to receive and transfer to during FTP, make sure that you open up the properties for the FTP session, and change the Local Dir to the folder you want to use as the destination folder.
Or at least, that's how it works in WM5. I'm glad I picked this up - it's heads and shoulders above Total Commander in usefulness, especially with the FTP and Registry editor plugins.

Thanks Haesslich for the tips. It works.
How about moving a group of files from the local folder to the server (uploading)? Right now, the only solution I know is to use the "Copy to" or "Move to" command.
Also, any tips about the "Receive" function under File (which is under Menu)?

Receive is so that you're automatically set to receive a file, IIRC, if someone's trying to send it out, be it via IR, Bluetooth, or some other format. I don't have a Bluetooth-equipped PC at the moment to test this out with, however, so I can't confirm that it auto-accepts files or the like.
As far as uploading to a server goes, the method you mentioned (select files, copy or move to the FTP location) is about the only one available, since the FTP client in Resco's a very basic one, without a dedicated 'upload' function - the File Explorer treats the FTP location like a networked drive that you're connected to, rather than as an FTP 'site', and thus doesn't have the dedicated FTP commands or buttons you're used to.
When you log into the FTP Location, then you're using the FTP plugin, which has the 'Download' command as part of it... but doesn't have 'upload' function, because it's not able to view your local files in another pane... and it isn't the File Explorer.

Restart and program ends
Sorry about not being clearer.
My post at the Resco forum included a screen shot
http://firstcoolbreeze.home.comcast..../Screen005.png
showing what happens.
It is a commercial FTP site, provided by my Internet Service Provider. When I said "it crashes" I meant that the Resco File Explorer program stopped running on the Axim. The rest of the Axim X51v is fine.

Thanks for the screenshot.
Can you connect to the FTP site on your desktop computer?
That "Restarting at 0. Send STORE or RETRIEVE." message has something to do with the FTP server on the other end. Most FTP clients will allow you to change the "mode" it uses to PASV.
Try this....
Goto your FTP Locations in Resco. Tap and hold (right-click) on your site's name and tap Properties. There you need to make sure Passive Mode is checked. Tap OK. That may help. Let me know.

Thanks. I'll try tonight.
I'm at work now and our network blocks all FTP
to personal sites, so I can't test your suggestion.
I'll try it when I get home. To answer your question,
yes, I can connect fine from home with WS_FTP.
I'll let you know later tonight. Thanks for the info.

No luck
Tried with the Passive box checked. No changes. Still fails at the RESTART.
Are there any other ways I can test FTP? Should I try some other product so I can compare setup info? Connecting from my desktop PC at home is OK.

You could try finding another FTP client, or using another FTP site to see if it always does that to you. I haven't seen this happen myself when using my ISP's FTP site, for my own personal storage area. Downloads and uploads both work great.

Yeah. Try other FTP sites.
ftp.microsoft.com
ftp.download.com
There are tons of them out there.
Let us know if you can connect to any other ones.
