PowerPoint Problems

Hello,
I'm having trouble with running PowerPoint presentations with my Axim X51V. I need to run them on my Dell projector. I got the cable needed for that, which came with the Westek ClearVue program. I set it all up, and I could get the presentation to come on, but as I forwarded through it, random slides would come up blank, or with some of the text or pictures missing, or with the text transitions not working, etc. On different test runs, it would be different slides.

This presentation is pretty big (18 mb) with lots of pictures, but I got an extra 1G memory card to store it on. I tried running it from there, and also just from the normal memory, and still it didn't work properly.

Any ideas? I'm not attached to using ClearVue, it just came with the cable.

Thanks!

I see you have an x51v. Have you tried looking at the presentation with the built-in PowerPoint viewer (and not Westek)? If it shows well on the PDA screen, you can use the free mirror utility to pipe the image through your display cable; that may be sufficient for your needs. You don't need Westek at all.

Sounds like a sync problem.

Think that your projector has a default resolution of 1024*768 pixels (xga) but your x51v uses 640*480 pixels (vga).
Normally the projector will adapt to the x51v signal if it's setup correctly -
but you can help by selecting the correct resolution (vga) and (eventually) the frame rate via the projector menu.

When a picture is stable, you may try to adjust the phase - if available - to get a overall clear picture.

Consult the manual :approve:

Power Point issues

Thanks to everyone who replied to me on this!

Kenster- I will try it with the PP viewer- I didn't know about the mirror utility- where can I find it? I don't recall if the run-through I did worked well on the screen or not, but it seems the less software the better, a simpler solution would be great.

Zaniax- thanks for the tips on resolution, etc. I will play around with that. And, read the manual? Really? Has it come to that? Seriously- that is some good advice that I don't always follow!

What happened was that I very wisely waited until 1 am the night before my presentation to see if it would work on my new, unfamiliar Axim and the projector I just got, and of course, sensing my desperation, the electronics balked and scoffed at me. It turned out OK, I used hubby's small Toshiba tablet, gave a great presentation, etc. But, I'd like to use the Axim in the future, and the suggestions so far seem helpful.

Thanks!

Sometimes the cure is very simple, like -

° connect the pc to the projector
° switch on the pc
° switch on the projector
° press 'windows' F8 for simultaneous pictures

If nothing works: call the resident AV-support on the campus and use the OHP/blackboard until the problem has been solved.

Be surprised that the AV-supporter solves the problem within seconds because he has read the manuals.

Don't be embarrassed because the audience is laughing while the supporter leaves the auditorium again.

Belive me - I've performed this for years :approve:

Start -> Settings; go to System Tab. There is a control applet called "Mirror".
Choose it and then there's a box "Enable mirror mode" with some explanatory text.
