Ridiculously Complicated
I have an Axim X5, with a SanDisk WiFi (and useless 128Mb built-in) CF and a 1G SD card.
I'm trying to download and install some of the freeware that's available, but all I get is errors.
Especially troublesome is the MicroSoft .NET compact framework stuff...what is this? Obviously its needed to run some of the aps I tried to install...but the are no instructions on how to install the .NET portion...yes, I'm frustrated. Why do so MANY of teh programs NOT work at all? Anyone else experienced this, or am I just an idiot with this thing?

You'll find links to both the desktop installer and the CAB files of .NET CF on this thread,

I already have the file stored on the Hard Drive

Which file, which hard drive? The .CAB installer needs to be run on your Axim; the .EXE (or .MSI) version has to run on your desktop machine with your Axim connected via ActiveSync.

It's a distribution bundle created by the developer.

sorry...still didn't work. "The .NET Compact Framework could not be found. Please install the .NET Compact Framework and run the installation again."
But when I try to run the .NET file, it tells me there is already a version (same one) installed, and to remove it before installing ....
What am I doing wrong? and how do I verify each step?? and what are those steps?

For Sale, DIRT CHEAP: Axim X5, SanDisk WiFi with useless 128Mb CF card, 1G SD card, charger, case, all original software. Soon to include CF slot GPS unit, and Cradle as soon as they arrive....
The time I had hoped to save by using this stupid thing has been more than wasted trying to figure out how to do anything other than look up phone numbers.
Any offers?

What is your OS? You need the software developped for the Pocket PC Operating System version that you have. Not all .EXE will install to a Pocekt PC.
