Fastest quality photo viewer?

Is there a better, or I should specify, faster photo viewer than Resco v5.32? I have my Axim x30H set on max processor speed (624MHz) which is blazing on all my other apps, yet for Resco photo viewer (which, despite the crappy speed, has a lot of nice features) the loadup time for pics, especially new ones is ridiculous, like forty second wait to open up a jpeg less than 500KB.

I know there's always the default ppc viewer, which is quite fast but the view quality is truly terrible.

Maybe there's an app with less features overall but shows pictures nicely and with a much faster loading speed?

Thanks in advance..!

Did you try Xnview? It's pretty good, and best of all it's free.

I don't have a link, but do a search and it sure to come up.

I have to be honest. I tried out a couple of photo viewers, including xnview, and I really liked Resco the best. It had a lot of feastures besides just viewing and was adequately fast. I ended up paying the money for that one.

Resco, along with XnView, is the fastest image viewer (just check out my benchmark data in my article Picture viewers/editors for the Pocket PC platform), even with large images. There must be some fundamental problem with the current config of your Pocket PC - for example, some software incompatibility.

I just discovered something!

Resco (and XnView, not a bad app. btw) were both slow when opening large .tif and .gif files from File Explorer!!

I did a test run of opening my largest image files (which are pretty big, given the image editing I have to do for work) from within the programs themselves and both Reso and XnView opened files fairly quickly.

It's trying to open stuff straight from File Explorer that's slow!

So I guess the question becomes: is there a faster alternative to File Explorer?

Thanks in advance:)

Resco File Explorer and Picture Viewer work very fast for me(X50 Mid). I have 1.3 mb jpeg pictures on a 8GB microdrive and it has no problems running a slide show with disolves at 3 second intervals while playing music from a different file in the background. If yours are taking 40 seconds to load, something is not set up correctly IMHO. How much Ram memory do you have available?

What's your main purpose for the images on the ppc? If you want them with you for no other purpose than showing others your pics, you might try looking more into Resco's create an album feature since you already own the program. The desktop portion of the app can take a folder of full size images on your pc and create an album of thumbs that look great on the ppc. Small storage size and logical groupings. It works pretty slick. The negative (no pun intended) is that you won't have the individual pic files on the device to share if needed.
