Aximsitebluetoothicon AximX51v vs. Bluetooth

I failed in installing Kensinton Bluetooth to my AximX51v in connection to my Dell 9200 laptop. When asked to indicate which port, com7 or com8, I had no clue. The printed instructions were not helpful.

Can someone with experience give me some information about installing this item?

Best thanks,

Wolfie2

A little clearification.

You put a kensington Bluetooth dongle on your laptop and have installed software that came with the dongle on the lap top.

Now you are trying to sync via bluetooth and you want to know what port to use. right?

Hi
As NemoJ said the guide explains how to find your COM port better than I could, see specifically:

http://www.aximsite.com/bluetooth/bt....htm#section10

Hope this helps

You need to think of bluetooth as a virtual cable connected to two virtual serial ports. The cable has two ends, one on the axim which will be connected to port 7 (most probably). The other end is connected to the PC on some port. This is the port that you need to know. Activesync on the PC needs to know. Activesync on the PC is looking for which virtual serial port on the PC it should use, not the prot on the Axim.

So, go to the Kensington My Bluetooth services and find what port activsync is going to use.

One more thing, You can not initiate a Bluetooth activesync connection from the PC. It will search and never find the axim. The only way to get Activesync to work over bluetooth is to set everyting up and then start activesync on the axim and select via bluetooth, on the axim.

If you still have problems PM me and I will send you more information. I have more at home.

Aximsitebluetoothicon AximX51v versusBT progress

NOW, at least my Inspiron9200 PC and AximX51v recognize each other. The little Kensington Dongle is flashing, the name of my Axim is displayed on the little ActiveSync window, the name of my PC has appeared on my Axim screen as a new partner,
BUT I get a little message on my PC screen that the connection has failed because my Device (the Axim) has refused the connection.
What might be going on here? I looked on my McAffee Firewall and ActiveSync is listed as an allowed application. Should Kensington, Widcomm or whatever be listed there also? If so, how to get 'em there? I think we are making progress, but the goal post is being moved.
