I just can't take the limited function of the default file explorer anymore! Help!

What different file explorer programs has everyone used? I understand that Resco is probably the best, but I just can't spare the extra $20 right now. Has anyone used others that are a little more affordable, and how have they worked?

Thanks in advance.

I purchased DEXplore, but I still use the regular File Explorer all the time. DEXplore is SLOW, because it looks at ALL the files. The thing that hurts the most is the small screen size.

The best I have found is from http://www.ghisler.com
He has also a program for the PC which is also the best and is now Total Commander, which used to be Windows Commander.
The one for the PocketPC is listed on top of the main page and is free.
I've been using Total Commander for over 10 years and have found nothing better. It does FTP, you can view your AXIM and transfer files back and forth from your PC, find files, delete files, move files, etc.
Read the documentation on both programs and I think you will be amazed by what this program does.

Speaking of Total Commander, Total Commander CE is the way to go. It has 90% of Resco File Explorer features, but the best part is: it's 100% cheaper! :D

Features:
• Copy, Move whole subdirs
• Inplace rename, create dirs
• Delete (no recycle bin)
• Zip and unzip
• Properties dialog, change attributes
• Built-in text editor
• Search function (also for text)
• Select/unselect groups of files
• Brief, full and large icons mode
• Single or two file window mode
• Option to hide all files in ROM
• Directory hotlist as in Total Commander
• Directory history through dropdown list
• Tree view
• Configurable button bar
• Simple help function

This is what File Explorer should have been.

I just downloaded Total Commander, but the site that you sent me too didn't work, but I got it from here....
http://www.freewareppc.com/

It is a great looking app... If someone could explain to me why they believe Resco is better, I would like to know... But right now Total Commander is everything a person needs in a File Explorer, and YES it is FREE... WooHoo

RESCO FILE EXPLORER 2003- HANDS DOWN THE BEST!

I have only purchased two apps for my Axim- the first one was the Resco Explorer. It has all the features mentioned above plus file encryption to protect sensitive files. Great for the kids if you let them occasionally play a game or for the nosey people in your life if you ever leave your Axim behind those few vulnerable minutes its recharging. By the way it looks just like the windows explorer on your desktop.

The second, if you were curious is Typango full screen keyboard. This thing is a sanity saver. I commute alot and typing on the mini keyboard with a stylus is hell on a moving train. Typango FSK (full screen keyboard) gives me alot more control and alot more speed.

Another vote for Resco File Explorer 2003. It was the first app I brought for my Axim. It's that important!

Glad you like it! Actually the ppc4all.com does work, the site is just usually slow...

Here's the main page from the makers themselves.

Resco Explorer 2003, hands down.

This is the first app I bought for my Axim, and it is worth the $20. I would honestly consider paying $40 for this app, it is THAT good! Check it out!

I bought the latest Resco v4.10 last night. With the discount code published here at Aximsite it was $16.97. Really nifty program with lots of features and useful tools built in.

It has a pretty good help system, but I couldn't find a user manual?

:D

GV Commander wasn't bad and at $9.00 it is a little cheaper. If your interested handgo has it. But Resco is what I use, the encrypt feature is important to me and is worth the extra $.
