X51v backup problems

I have been trying to use the WM 5.0 backup app (ROM version A012). As normal backing up to an SD card. I have so far never been successful in getting this to work. Each time it goes through the routine of saying "Do you want to close all the open programs" then it hangs (until soft reset) if I say yes. If I first stop all programs, before starting the backup, it will just hang straight away. This is not just a temporary stop, it stops for hours...until I reset.

I have tried doing this with several different SD cards and evena CF card, always with the same resuts. I should also mention, each time I have done a hard reset and transfer my data from PC outlook to the X51v, it takes hours too. Very slow..3 hours for approx 1200 contacts.

Anyone have any idea what to do about this?

Thanks in advance,
RD Wirr

Are you doing a FULL backup or just PIM? If PIM, could you back it up to Main Memory & then move it to SD w/ File Explorer? I have been using WM5 backup to 1 GB Kingston SD card w/ no problems.

Do yourself a favor and buy Spb Backup. It backs up everything to the SD or CF cards and can do it on a schedule. You can copy the files to your desktop if you want to have more security.

Nice program! I might have to check that one out as well.

Hi MTGeorge,
I am doing a full backup. trying to avoid reintalling everything after a hard reset. Seem dumb that this simple and necessary thing doesn't work and that I should have to buy another program to do it...
I've tried a 1gb kingston, 1 gb scandisk and 128mb scandisk all with the same results, it hangs. I have newly installed version A012 without helping this problem (although things seem to generally run much better under A12). Well, maybe it is solved by just syncing all the important data and have it on my PC and forget about backing up the PDA.
