New to using Outlook with a question
I just recently started using microsoft outlook, including the mail program, and I was wondering if its possible to get mail to this outlook and also outlook express which I use while on the internet? Possibly a stupid question, but I'm very much a newbie with all of this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Are you talking about on your desktop or the Axim?

I'm not sure what you really want to do, but here's a typical use. I can view email from my ISP either on the web or through Outlook. Outlook uses a POP3 account to downolad it from my ISP. Once the email is downloaded, it is no longer available on the web -- the email is deleted from the ISB server as Outlook takes it.
So if this is what you are doing, I think the answer is no.
If you're not sure whether Outlook is using a POP3 account, open Outlook. Selecte Tools / Change existing email accounts. You will see a list of all accounts. If your account says it is type POP or POP/SMTP, then you are using a POP account.

You answered my question, didn't know if the message was deleted on the web once its picked up through outlook. Thanks for your quick reply.

You can edit that in outlook. Go to the Account settings and there should be something like "Leave mail on server"...

You can of course leave a copy on the server - by selecting in Outlook Tools>accounts>select mail account>properties>advanced>tick box to "leave message on server"
Then you can access it again - if you wanted to via different programs

Hi Bernie,
Totally unrelated question, but your avatar reminds me of an old racing game I had on my PC, at least 10 years ago. Can't remember the name though. Is that where he's from? Thanks!

I'm new to Outlook as well as PDA's. I ordered my Axim X3 last week and am awaiting it's arrival. I'll be using it for work and at home for personal use. Can anyone recommend a good book on Outlook that includes PDA usage or one for Pocket PC's that specifically deals with Outlook?
Also, is it possible to use two seperate email addresses (one at work, one at home) and use the Axim for both of them together? Example: share tasks, calendar, etc.
Thanks,
Bill

The different email addresses on your work vs. home PCs don't matter although you will only be able to syncronize the email on one of the PCs (that's true even if they were both the same email address).
The calendar, tasks, contacts on the other hand can all be synced at both locations (or only one or neither, depending on how you have the boxes checked in ActiveSync under the Options window on each PC).

Thanks Ike! The calendar, contacts and tasks were all I was concerned about so I should be good to go.
Another related question:
Will it matter that I'm using Office XP at work and Office 2000 at home?
