Haven't used them. They have trials:

I don't know any software that can replace activesync, ie, run without activesync also running.

Intellisync requires activesync and an active partnership. It supports many more Desktop PIMs including Novell groupwise and Lotus Notes. It can work off of a server. I used the trial and it worked well with 2003se.

PDASync also works with different pc PIMs. I use it because I use Lotus Organizer on my desktop. It is limited to contacts, tasks and appointments, no notes. It, too, must have activesynce working in the background with an active partnership.

Mightysync will sync any folder or set of docs on your PC with any paired folder or doc on your pda. I have not used it, but have heard good things about it. I don't believe that is will do the basic PIM sync.

All of these cost $$ and are listed from most to least expensive.

MobSync was a freeware beta program that did pretty much what mightysync does. it syncs any folder, doc or combination between selected locations. It had a paid converter program incase you wanted the conversion to the pda compressed documents to save room. The program has recently been released as a shareware V.1.0.

There are also a couple of web based free sync programs -- one from yahoo and one from plaxo. Good Luck. hopefully you are not feeling sunk by syncs.
