Hurricane Tracker

Those of you who managed to test the beta version...how's it working out?
We curently have a new depression or storm named "Debby"...and have you gotten new updates from the author of the software?

Great program.

Cool

It showed up late last night for me. I too had not updated in a while. I love it so far, in my eyes only needs a few minor tweaks to make it fully functional (to me). But those are just details. Overall, the program is great, and very useful.

TD four still shows up as TD four, even though it's named Debby now.

This morning (UK time) the TD was shown as FOUR. Now it has been removed and it shows "No active storms".

A very nice program, now released commercialy and available from Handango for $18.95 I think.

Thank goodness there have been no Atlantic hurricanes so far this year to really test it out with photos etc. Quit remarkable for late August. Long may it continue. Fingers firmly crossed!!

Okay, DEBBY shows up now. If the time they show is GMT, it's "only" about 3 hours old. I assume the service updates every three hours?

This app is working great :approve:

I've been using it to track Ernesto coming right near me.
I live in a boat Norfolk, VA so it really has been interesting to get updates.
Any plans for updates?

Well, Ernesto was "fun" to watch. I hope another (that stays out to sea!) comes along soon.
This app did everything I asked of it, I love it!

I actually beta tested it, and reported several bugs which were then fixed in version 1.1. I didn't download version 1.1 from the email b/c there weren't any hurricanes at the moment, but when I went to download it before Ernesto hit Florida but the links were dead. When I emailed them they told me that I can get it from Handango or one of those online stores. I have a feeling this will be the last time I beta test for that company. Sorry, just wanted to vent a bit. Overall it's an ok program, still needs more features and a speed increase wouldn't hurt.

I d/l 1.1 but I'm not really impressed with the service refresh interval; they only refresh a storm's statistics a couple times a day.

I dunno... just switched it back on and re-refreshed the storm. It's 11:52p.m. and the time says 3:00 a.m. I'm assuming it's GMT, so GMT-5 would be 10:00 p.m. so it's less than 2 hr. old. I'll refresh again a few times tomorrow. If it's every 3 hours, that's okay. Still, would like a faster refresh, but 3-hr is at least usable.

PB. I am pretty sure the refresh is every 3 hours.

They refresh as often as the main NOAA site refreshes, and that is every 2 hours....

I had the same experience, beta tested, reported a lot of bugs/ui improvements and not a word about a full version from them...... I think they are off my list too......

Yup, if you are a weather junkie like me just think about the weather channel as they report on a storm. They are always saying stuff like "we're just an hour away from an official update after the plane flies through the storm, ..." etc etc ;)
